When someone gets these installed on cloth seats, can you post the results? I've love to get these would like to get your opinion as to how well these work with cloth seats.

Okay sorry was at Tahoe pretty much all day... Its raining like crazy here in the SAC area... because of the rain sorry no pics just yet (of the wiring that is)...

I asked about the certain states awhile back and IICR those are the SouthEast region states and you guys have to go through another channel to obtain them. I called Rostra directly and they wanted $289 for the kit while M&R electronics only charges $219... weird, huh?

as for the compatibility... its not much about it to debate... The only wiring that you touch of the actual runner is the constant(B+) and the accesory wire(ACC) which are both found in the left kick panel... the last wire is the ground and that gets secured by a factory bolt. All other 'wiring' is supplied with the kit. Both the ACC & B+ are wire tapped and both warmer units are individually fused (10amp) under both seats. So I think between the car fuses and the two additional ones that come with the kit the 4runner wiring is safe.

And the site says it's for the 2005 model only, but I presume it is compatible with 2003 and 2004 models???

teamitazura22,

We're all waiting for you to take the plunge to buy and install them into cloth seats and let us know how they work.

Guess that answers my question. Wife was in Illinois a few weeks ago and had a rental (Kia Amanti, IIRC) with heated seats. In the cold weather, she really liked them, because from hotel to work was about a 5-minute drive and the engine didn't warm up enough to produce any heat.

I believe thats a 4wd feature, so he wouldn't have it if he has 2wd. which given by the pics, i would assume he has 2wd, since the button is missing..

True.

I was thinking that if I install these heaters that I'd move the DAC to the center position so the seat heaters would be in the outside positions.

Yep, only 2wd here.... Pls guys, lets not talk about this! Its a touchy subject for me.... j/k. But really, I kick myself in the ass everyday for not getting 4wd. But now a year wiser I still cannot subject myself to shelling out 8 grand to trade in for a 4wd model (w/ a house payment and money put into my other car). Maybe later when i pay it off and the rates lower a bit again.

Any trouble with the seat bottom of the passenger seat? When CST added my heated seats, they said that they couldn't do the bottom of the passenger seat because of some seatbelt or airbag sensor. I was told this by the dealership beforehand, and by CST also. Said it affected all 4Rs.

Fine by me, as the drivers seat has both.. But I'm curious now.

Oh, and how fast are these? Only complaint I have about the CST ones are that they're not as quick as I would like them to be, the ones of my mom's Pilot are faster, but hers are stock.. Other than that, they work great.. Get hot quick after they start getting hot..

yeah I know what you are talking about as I saw that sensor when I installed the heating pad. basically its a sensor that sits atop of the pad. It's what engages the little blinking light on our instrument panel... But yeah, honestly I am not sure what effects the pad would or wouldn't have on the sensor. I just put the heating pad on top of it.... we'll see what will happen. No affects as of yet. I wonder how the limited is wired up given its from the factory with heated seats?

yeah i've been curious about how the limited's are wired. i'm sure toyota wired it to not interfere.

i dunno.. makes me think about the risk of the sensor overheating.. hmm..

now you've got me thinking... I know we refer to it as a sensor but its more like a pressure switch to know when some one is in the seat. But I have an idea... what I can do is make a small incision into the pad itself below the top layer (where the heating element is) and place the sensor there instead... so basically I would seperate the switch from the heating element... but thats all just a thought
