Remote start with factory remote entry??

Is this possible? I want to add the remote start feature on my 2001 SR5. I would like to keep the factory remote entry and just add the remote start, is it possible? Or do i have to remove/diable my factory alarm and go with an aftermarket with that feature? Thanks guys.

You can hook up a remote start with your factory alarm without any problems.

Well, the only way I know of is to hook everything up and use 2 key fobs. one factory and one with the remote start. Although, you can hook up power unlock/lock without too much trouble.

yesterday it was my birthday and as a gift my parents agreed to get me a remote start. i have an 06 Sport and i have the factory alarm with a remote start. its the Viper 160xv system. it comes with two new key fobs that you use. open and locks doors, turns on the car and an aux button. works great and im in love

Edit: yyou only use one fob, the other is just a backup. the factory fobs are useless at this point.

i think you can. you'll have 2 different remotes though. unless you program to the original remote which i'm not sure if it's possible but i know some people who has their OEM remote entry and another remote for starter.
