FYI all, you CAN use a Aux Interface on a 05 Runner!!! UPDATE!

Well, I have torn apart my dash without any problems. I took the HU out and to my surprise, there is no place to plug my USA Spec Aux Interface into. There is the main plug for power and speakers, I assume and then there is one for the radio controls. I have the JBL system with 10 speakers but no cd changer. When I bought it their website stated that it would work but it obviously isn't. I will be posting pics so everyone can see. Luckily, I was able to get an FM modulator for better sound.

Come to find out, Circuit City sent me the wrong adapter and I have since gotten the correct one and install was easy and sounds great!

Really? I have a 6 Disc JBL headunit from a 2005 Limited and I have a PIE unit plugged in. Works perfectly fine. Maybe they sent you the wrong USA Spec Unit?

I don't know. There isn't even any empty slots in the back of my radio to plug it into. There are only 3 and all are currently being used by either speakers, power, or steering wheel controls. I took some pics last night and I will try to post them later today. Did you have an empty slot in the back of your HU to plug the PIE unit into?

No empty slots, but there isn't suppose to be. Not to be an ass but this may be user error. The PIE unit had a Y cable that plugs into the back of the head unit. Then the plug that USED to go into the head unit plugs into the Y adapter.

Here is the install diagram for the PIE unit: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/logjam/toy03auxdia.html

The USA spec is probably very similar.

Here is the unit at Crutchfield: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/pro...PA11TOY-f.jpeg

I think they sent me the wrong one becuase the adapter that they sent with the aux, the Y adapter, wouldn't fit into my HU. I actually got it from Circuit City and it wouldn't surprise me in the least that they gave me the wrong one. I ended up using the FM modulator since I had my car ripped apart last night and had to get it done. With the FM modulator I didn't notice that much of a difference and unsure if I would notice a big difference with the Aux Interface either. I will post pics of my final install later.

sharp4runr, I just called Circuit City and it appears that after speaking with their audio unit that I did indeed get the wrong Aux. I told him that the box states "Toyota" but the contents he states sound like its from a Honda. He said that it sounded like someone returned one without a box and someone put it into that one. I will be going over there today to pick up a sealed interface. I will let you know what happens.

kewl kewl. Check the model number of the unit they gave you. The second link I posted is the model that should fit in your truck. Good luck!

Thats what the box said, but not what was inside. The only thing I notice now with my Sportster Replay now is that I have to crank up the sound to around 35 to get the same level as I had prior at 25. Strange...
