why would the HID lights coming on during unlock hurt the HID system?

They are not meant to be flashed on and off again.

oh okay,so it would probably be safe for them to be left on for the 30 seconds after you leave your car since they were already on. The danger is in the lights coming on when you unlock your car and then have to have them turn off and on again once the car needed to be started correct?

Thanks for the great right up!! I don't want to hijack the thread but I'm getting ready to install an have a question. I went with both high beam and low beam, and have ballasts for both. Do I need to use all 4 ballasts or can't I connect the low and high beams into one? Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

Each HID bulb would need its own ballast.

4RunnerRon,

Thank you very much for the detailed guide of your HID kit installation. I used your guide as a reference for the installation of my XenonDepot Philips 4300k kit yesterday morning. Your detailed mounting locations worked out to serve as a perfect guide for my installation. The end result looks near factory.

The new setup from XenonDepot is different from the wiring installation that you have installed in your vehicle.

I didn't need to run direct power across the radiator to the battery posts for power. I was able to power up each ballast and relay assembly directly using the factory wiring.

Installation was very straight forward. Just plug-in-play.

I wasn't able to get night time shots as it was pouring here last night, but I'm hopeful to post some of my results in the upcoming week for everyone to reference.

Thank you again for the guide and have a great day!

Hi!

Thinking of ordering the exact kit you have for my 2009 4runner. Did you ever manage to get any night-time shots? How are they holding up? Any issues? And how is the beam pattern? TIA

William

Morning William,

I totally forgot about the night shots!!! My apologies.

They look amazing compared to the stock super dim ones. Definetky worth getting for HID.

Beam pattern nice. Has a good cut off for HID bulbs stuck in projector housings. not as good as real HIDs like my mom has in her 2005 LS 430, but for our trucks its a massive upgrade.

I havent had any issues since installation.

If you like, I can try to snap some photos of the install but it really was a 30 minute process and that was going slow zip tieing and running it as nice as I could. Hope this answers your questions. feel free to shoot back any questions that I missed.

One of my headlights went out the other day so im gonna put some HIDs in and think I'll go with XenonDepots. I have heard a lot of great things about them. How about reverse lights? HIDs will work as well and/or they're a good idea? I'm thinking of putting in some more powerful reverse lights so when I install a backup camera I get some more visibility at night. Great write up thanks for this

HID Install for 2006 4Ruunner

My E46 has style 119 wheels with a off-set of 47 front & rear, if I install style 161 wheels with an off-set of 34 front and 37 rear, will the lower off-set number move the wheels out or in a bit ??
Anyone have any experience with this scenario ??

@bucknasty07 - Check out our Shop Lighting By Vehicle tool to see what kind of bulb your vehicle uses for the reverse lights.
