It's been a while, but some of you may remember I have a TRD Supercharger in my garage from 2003 Tacoma- brand new in the box!
I added a MAPECU and wiring kit and PLX multi-gauge. Or tried
The custom wiring harness for the MAPECU2 was miswired and fried the controller. The PLX gauge was...junk.
It all went back, no harm, no foul.
Fast forward to 2014.
As I am replacing the timing belt and a bunch of other stuff, I am revisiting the supercharger install for TOWING, which is about 10% of the time. I tow a heavy camper with lots of air resistance.
It tows fine, rides fine, etc. But it bogs down on the steep hills- the only kind we have lots of in Western PA.
So I am looking at the Unichip PnP. I want to have a daily driver with a mild setting, optimized for MPG, and an aggressive map for towing.
Apparently a FLUX addon allows a switch of maps, incar.
I see they have a 4.7L map for the Tacoma. Would that work with my 4Runner?
I have a less restrictive exhaust and 1" taller tires, but the rest is basically stock. I may consider a CAI with the S/C, but neither is on or set in stone.
Anyone have experience with these? Care to share your opinion before I drop almost a grand on the chip and flux display/controller?
I REALLY, REALLY need some tips here! I'm not a tuner, nor pretend to be
