sirius installed
i had sirius installed a few months ago and finally got around to taking some pictures. i had the unit hard wired so i still had use of my ac adapter all the time. the shop i took it too for the install used a panavasive mount. over all i feel its a really clean look, with no wires exposed. my only compaint is that the unit vibrates when driving on the highway at high speeds.

Nice and clean... they did an awesome job harnessing the wires together. What did they use, spiral wrap? Heat shrink tubing?

I am in the process of installing my sirius into my new to me 2003 4runner. I would like to know how the installer on your radio hard wired it in. I have what appears to be the same stock stereo as yours.

Looks great dude. I see you have an aftermarket head unit, though. For the time being I am going to stick with my factory unit. It's not the fancy one either, just a plain ole single disc/cassett/am/fm. The part I'm curious about is what kind of Aux input will I find when I get the dash off and pull the stereo out. I'm hoping it's a couple of RCA jacks. Any clue? And how do you get the stereo out? I haven't figured out what's holding the cover down. My sig shows how to hardwire the power/ground wires too, so you can free up your cig lighter and clean up the wiring. When someone says "hardwiring" I immediately think of the power wire(s), not the A/V ones, which I would call simply a direct connection using cables and adapters (no wire splicing/cutting/soldering/crimping). I could be mistaken though. But I doubt it. 
I think I have that same OEM stereo still... I'll check it out later tonight and let you know what I find if you have no definite answers at that time.
Which cover? The silver shroud around the stereo that goes the whole height of the dash? Pulls right out. Start below the glove compartment and work your way UP and to the left then back down. Quick pulls outta snap it free.

Not yet, I just signed up an hour ago. I bought a 2003 SE V8 4WD. WHAT A MACHINE, I LOVE IT!! It will take me a bit to figure the forum out so I'll be able to post some pics and such. Thanks for you help.

im not sure exactly how they hard wired the unit, or what the set up is like behind the stereo. i dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up when they were done. im sure someone else can help you with the inputs behind the stereo.

If I had to guess I'd say they used an FM modulator... Do you have to tune to a certain frequency to hear the sirius?

I think you may be SOL duuuuude.
I do have my old OEM unit, and it's probably the same as yours (basic: radio/cassette/singleCD) . I just checked it and the back of it has no RCA's and no CD Changer input either. Just square receptacles for the harnesses and the 2 antennae receptacles.
If you don't want to spend much $$ but want a direct Audio link between your Sat tuner and the radio, you can do what others in here did: buy a Scion head unit. I think it's plug-and-play with the 4Runner harness plugs. You can probably even sell your OEM unit for like $25 on ebay to make up some of the cost. There have been alot of posts on those in this forum particularly, so search around and you'll find some options.
Or go the FM modulator route.

The installers saw what I saw on the back of that factory unit. Sorry laidback.... with my mind on my money and my money on my mind. It looks like its either 1) use the Sportster's FM mod feature or 2) get another head unit. (wah-wah -wah-waaaaaaah)

Seriously, there is a 3 as well...
3) Purchase an aftermarket FM modulator and run it in through the stock radio's antenna.
Any Circuit City or like store should sell aftermarket versions.
