GX470 Supercharger fit?

I just moved from SMOG NAZI California to a far more SMOG Friendly Florida. I have 04 4Runner, have a friend with 3 supercharger kits, an 03 GX470 kit and an 03 4Runner and an 02 Tundra. I have read al the threads on superchargers here already but am not clear on a few things.

Will the gX470 kit fit, seems to me everything should be the same?

Being an 04, some people say they work fine, others say they do not, but it all seems to be hear-say. Anyone have any proof of them not working on 04's?

Why am I looking at the GX kit when he has one for a 4Runner, the 4Runner kit may be spoken for already.

As far as I know the supercharger were available for the 2003-2004 V8s. They were discontinued in 2004 probably because Toyota knew the VVTI was coming and wouldn't be compatible with the new engine. Not sure if the GX470 kit would fit but it is the sister platform so chances are good.

I was told that the supercharger was sending mixed signals to the transmission and it was damaging engines, so Toyota pulled it to research further. I have an 04 V8 4runner and would be very intersted in what you find out.
