Just a heads up for anyone researching these tires:

I love the look and performance, but the pull to the right with them is a pain in the ass. I'm going for new tires this Tuesday, gonna try Pro Comps.

I had researched these tires prior to purchase, and had noted that one person had a problem with them pulling as well, but that seemed insignificant. Well, after installation and a few months of driving with them, I looked further into it. There seems to be about 25% of the guys running them having problems with a pull to the right (that number came from a poll on a tacoma forum)

The problem seems to cross platforms as well since I saw guys with wranglers having the same issue.

That being said these are amazing in the mud and rocks and I have no worries about a puncture leaving me stranded in the mountains, but I spend more time on the road than in the mountains.

My 4r is a 2014 trail with Toytec 3" suspension lift, oem trail wheels and JBA UCAs. My alignment numbers are perfect (even the caster since the install of the JBA UCAs).

Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 255/80/17 Skinnies

I looked over at TW and that pull to the right seems to be a big issue there. I haven’t heard it much here on t4r.

Edit: I finally did some driving today, city and highway. Mine definitely pulls to the right as well. So add me to the list.

The few places I got stuck momentarily then used the terrain select and diff lock and powered right on through. Did a few water crossing that felt solid as can be, one area the depth was just up to the rocker panels. This was all at 40psi, I imagine the grip will be even that much better aired down on the Coopers.

Enjoy some pics

Looking into getting 255 as well to replace 285's. Toyo OC AT2 also come in 255/80-17 and I am wondering if anyone has experience with the Toyo's in 255. I would guess that they may be quieter on the road. Feedback?

I have them on my 4th Gen and like them. They are the LT version sidewall/tread. While I'm not the guy who rocks mud terrains just to look cool, I do wish they were a little more aggressive looking. I actually got these to replace 255/80r17 ST Maxxs that had grown loud. I loved those Coopers but hte pull to the right was maddening. The Falken AT3W now comes in 255/80R17 too if you want something that looks "cooler"

I have no lift on stock off road wheels with no rub at all. Not at full lock going in reverse or forward. With no trimming, BMc, etc. Totally stock running 33's. Have had them fir several weeks now, and went light off-road, still with no rub.

I too have also noticed a very slight pull to right. Nothing dangerous but it is there.

Sad to see this thread died.

Anybody have specific info/pics about the Wildpeak 255/80? Considering these as I re-do the suspension and tires.

yeah man sad to see no more info or feedback. I love my coopers on my tacoma and now throwing a set on the wife new 2020 sr5 premium and lifting with dobinson 3/2 lift/. Anybody feel the falken or toyo 255/80/17 are better or quieter on road but still good offroad compared to coopers?
