Found a GREAT deal on a Yakima Loadwarrior!!!

I found a a GREAT deal on a Yakima Loadwarrior Basket today!!! Northridge Toyota Parts has them for $192 plus tax with free shipping anywhere in the continental US and it comes with the net too.

RackAttack.com is selling the Loadwarrior for $262 with free shipping and the net is an extra $27.

Just thought I would pass along this awesome deal after I ordered one for myself.

Edit:

You do need to place your order over the phone to get the free shipping...

Have you installed the rack yet? When you do, I've got two questions. 1. Did you mount it to the factory crossbars? & 2. If you have a sunroof, does it make a lot of windnoise? Thanks.

Post some pics when you get it. I'm also curious to see if it mounts to the factory cross bars. Lastly, I didn't even see it advertised on their web page. I know you said you had to call to order but I thought it might be listed on the webpage somewhere.

I will definitely post some pics when I get it mounted. It WILL fit directly to the factory cross bars. I too have a sunroof and was wondering the same but I am going to mount it as far back as I can to hopefully avoid any wind noise.

When you get to the Northridge Toyota Parts site click "4Runner" on the left then it is on page 3 of the parts. It is listed as:

Roof Rack Attachments - Load Warrior Cargo Carrier w/ Net
Part Number: 00133-80056-27

Retail Price: $240.00
Our Price: $192.00

You need to call or email Evan Nickols ([email protected]) he is the parts manager. Tell him you saw his ad on Yotatech stating free shipping. He sells all his parts to Yotatech and T4R members 25% off and Free shipping. This is by far the cheapest I've found one anywhere.

KSNEUBEC,
Here's how I found it. First pull up Northridge's website using the link in MW's first thread. You'll see a pic of a 4Runner to the left. Click on that, and then it's on the the 3rd page of accessories. It's still on there for $192.

finally installing the rack

Finally received the rack Monday and when I opened up the box I was missing the faring, some clips and all the nuts. Had to call Yakima directly and it was delivered today. I'm going to install it tonight. I did order a set of locks and the light mounting brackets from Rack Attack yesterday. I am going to put some Hella Driving lights on it some time soon. I will post pics of the install tomorrow.

Don't expect fast shipping out of Northridge, but at least you save almost $100. The rack was shipped from Memphis, TN to Northridge, CA then they shipped it to me in Arkansas. It probably went right past my house on the UPS truck going to CA.

Thanks for all the info on this guys. What is the rack made of? Will it rust? Also, I looked at those light mounting tabs. The photos are strange- it makes it look like you mount the lights BELOW the brackets, not on top . . . is that right?

Well I received SOME of the missing pieces from Yakima yesterday but they left out one little thing... The FARING!?!? After a 20 minute call to Yakima AGAIN, I finally got it straight that I am still missing a faring and it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I went ahead with the install of the rack without the faring. It is fairly simple but getting it exactly straight and centered took some work by myself. I ended up putting marks on my factory roof rack so I would be easy to center it if I ever take it off. I haven't received the locks and light mounting brackets yet so I will install those later.

I am happy with the way it looks... though it will look much better with the faring installed, IMO. After the drive to work this morning it became very clear why they make the faring. It was howling up there. It was the loudest between 40-50 mph then got quieter from 60-70 mph.

To answer your question, the rack itself shouldn't rust but any place that the paint gets scratched off and exposes the bare metal will for sure. The light mounting brackets allow you to mount the lights above (where they would stick out on top of the rack above the faring) or below the top bar (where they would mount behind the faring and you would have to fold down the faring to use them). The second way would keep them hidden and protected when not in use.

Here are some pics....

After the install

Here is how it attaches to the Factory Rack

Here is a close up of the bracket attachment

Looks good, I like it. Any chance of a picture in better light/day time? I'll be interested in how much wind noise the faring cuts down.

Yes it will fit just like mine does. I have an '05 and there is no difference in the roof racks between and 05 and an 04.

I will post a couple more after I get the locks, light mounting brackets and faring installed tonight. Well after I wash my truck too.

I test fitted both the LoadWarrior and MegaWarrior and ended up buying the latter. It is bigger and still fits perfectly within the roof dimensions without covering the sunroof at all. The Load Warrior seemed too small for a 4th Gen 4R.

Mine came with the fairing and it cuts some of the wind noise but you can hear some clatter from the fairing when the sunroof is open. Can't hear it when closed. It has a thick black powdercoat that seems very durable. We put our poles, boots and skis in the basket after each day on the slopes and never found a scratch.

I also installed 2 Yakima BOA bike mounts on the rack and the Yakima basket locking brackets. All mounted to the factory rack and cross bars.

I also purchased the light bracket and the cargo net but have not used them yet.

Tried to figure out how I would install the lights. Has anyone run lights on the roof of their 4th Gen. If so, where did you run the power cables? I don't want to start drilling through the roof if I don't need to.

I researched this alot and the only place I've found any info for a 4th gen install is on Yotatech. One guy ran his wiring under the black rubber/plastic strip behind the factory rack rails and into the rear cargo area. I think it is also possible to run them under the front strips and maybe into the passanger door or on down beside the windshield and into the engine compartment. I havent looked at this option that close, and I doubt it will work, but it's worth a try. There really isn't much info out there or very many pics of people with lights mounted to Yakima Baskets.
Here is a good write up on wiring auxillary lights. It is written about a 3rd gen though.
