Call for help: anyone with an OEM repair manual for dash installation

I'm upgrading my radio and after finding a good price, I sprung for a Panasonic DVD system with a built-in screen, but I'm looking to mount another monitor somewhere in the front for a passenger(the DVD will not play on the built-in screen unless the car is in park). Here's my idea: take a standard in-the-headrest mount, cut out some of the rubber/pastic on the dash that is right in front of the passenger seat, and fit that mount into the section I remove, feeding the cables behind the rest of the dash. I was wondering if any memeber might have a copy of the OEM repair manual, or otherwise, an idea of how thick that pastic/rubber dashboard is (I'm thinking I'll need about an inch or two to get the monitor in there) and how the airbag is situated behind that--the las thing I want is my new monitor to be ejected into my passenger's forehed...

Anyone ever seen anything like this done before...I'm definitely up for experimenting but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to post the results once I find a good mounting as well as som answers with respect to the nature of that dashboard.

Thanks!!

you can bypass that with the dd player so you can watch movies anytime. the unit is actually supposed to hook up to parking break usually not to transmission indicator. either way, its possible. it is probably illegal in your state to have a screen in the drivers view while driving, but it is possible to do it.

Have you given any thought to a visor monitor? Would save you the hassle of modifying the dash.

I was looking at the visor monitors but I'm not sure I can get one that matches exactly unless they do some OEM material matching process. I think the dash mount would look really unique and could be very interesting as long as it is done properly...there's nothing worse than a sloppy installation.

We'll see though. I'm definitely in the market for ideas and the visor is a good option.

Thanks again!
