I have seemed to have fixed my issues. Adjusted the pipe that goes over the crossmember. And a couple hose clamps on the hangers.

I had just placed an order on a Gibson exhaust for my 2006 V6. I’m curious to hear how it sounds, especially with my URD Y-pipe

Nice. These systems are MADE to order custom, and have been taking a while to ship from the factory. But, they WILL ship and you will get it

Gibson 4th gen Exhaust at Burtman Industries, sale extended order up - YES, it's STILL ON SALE, because I've been too lazy to change the price on the website. If you wanted one of these, do order soon because when I have time it's going to change.

Hey All... Seeing if I can get a little help. I have a 2007 v6 4Runner and just put on the Gibson system. It certainly is a sturdy little exhaust but it seems to drone more inside the cabin than outside. Outside it sounds great! Inside it gets old after a while.

I tested for leaks and then number one spot was the connection between the header and the first tailpipe section (b4 the muffler). I smashed the donut gasket a little more and that seems to have helped.

The next spot is all the "U" bolt connections... is there a ~torque setting or an idea of how much pressure those bolts will take? Every connection point is leaking. Any other thoughts for sealing up those connections?

Does anyone know if there is a "direction" to the muffler? I just read the directions and they mentioned: "with the louvers facing towards the converter"... I wasn't sure if I have it backwards or not???

When I look under from the passenger's side I can read "GIBSON".

Thanks!

Tighten the U bolts down TIGHT. You can't break em. It's even better to use air tools on them if you have.

Yes, it does making a difference which way the muffler goes in. Some choose to install it backwards because the want a MORE sound. The INLET of the muffler is the side with the open fave of the louvers. They are designed to catch the air

Burtman Industries 4th gen gibson exhaust On sale still

@MrBunnyRunner your issues are exactly like mine. I can't get my connections to stop leaking, no matter how tight I crank the clamps. I even broke one. The connection to the y-pipe is terrible, the pipe is not flared enough to get good contact on the donut gasket.
I reduced the drone a bit by removing the Gibson tip and putting on a resonator tip instead. Inside still drones at certain rpms and engine load but overall sounds good. But outside with all the leaks it sounds like I've got major mechanical issues, haha.

Here is how inlet of muffler should be when installed properly.

I’ve sold hundreds of these over the years and go over everything with air tools and no issues. You can’t break the clamps. This System was designed to slip/fit together without any welding. Some want to weld once in a while and that’s up to you, but not needed. This is the quietest system there is and if you want more sound/louder I have Magnaflow too.

Thanks all for the advice! It's getting into motorcycle season so the poor truck is sitting in the garage being neglected.

The picture inlet of the muffler looks very familiar... I just can't recall which direction I put it. Does anyone know if the picture above is from the "G" end or the "N" end of the "GibsoN" stamped on the side of the muffler?
Either way... I'll bust it open next week and report back if I don't hear from anyone.

If one "were" to replace the just the muffler... any good suggestions out there that would fit our 24" long, 2.5" in/out with a 2.5" offset?
The closest thing I could find was the Jones MAX Flow MF1256 (but MAX sounds a lot like Turbo aka LOUD).

I'll also mention that I got a few extra pipes from Gibson (not sure who was packing that day) and I have a shorter Headpipe, but I'll have to measure how much room that adds. The one I installed was the Gibson 884-700618s and the extra one I have is the Gibson 962-700733s (shorter).

I have Gibson add in the 2nd pipe. It's just for earlier model 4Runners and takes some confusion out when people order and select the wrong year. This way no matter what, everyone will get the right parts to use for their system.

I ended up swapping the Gibson muffler with a Thrush Hush muffler (Model 17633) for ~$31. I had to add a small extension pipe b/c the Thrush was shorter... but it's about 75% quieter w/ NO DRONE!
I can hear the Thrush a little bit in the cab when under load (acceleration)... but it's barely audible when driving down the hwy. Wind noise is louder.

The Gibson was GREAT... it was just a little louder than I was looking for.
If anyone wants my Gibson muffler or the Black tip PM me. ;)
