Added Heated Muth Signal Mirrors to my non-heated housings

I purchased my mirrors from Jason: http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoo...n_sig_mir_heat and got them within a few days.

I really missed not having the heating mirros this past winter (New Jersey) so from what I read here it seemed as though the heated mirror wiring (2 wires each mirror) might already be in the doors.

If you pop your door panel off (take 5 minutes) and look at the harness coming from the mirror into the door, that plug/connector on the door has 3 wires going to the mirror and 5 wires going the other way back into the car. (This is for a 2005 SR5) I vampired these 2 extra wires and ran wire up into the mirrors and connected them to the heating element connectors.

Now it works like stock with the rear defroster. (it was foggy the other morning)

Sorry I didn't take any pics...I will take a few when I do my speakers soon.

Of course the LED Signals work and look great!

Rich

How long did the install take you? Any snags? Pictures?

Took me a couple of hours each side, but I took my time and was doing other things in between.

I used a metal hangar that I straightened to help snake some of the wires through.

The door panel really comes off in less than 10 minutes.

One part of the mirror was giving a problem snaking the wires through until I realized it came apart further...I will post pics of this soon...but it is the rubber piece that goes over the 3 bolt/studs that bolt the mirror to the car...there is a Phillips screw that holds it on.

Cool deal! I didn't know you could put the heated on a non heated car. Pretty good trick you found there.

Here are some more pics from the gallery page for now.

Thinking of installing the mirrors on my 04 SR 5. I miss the heated feature from previous vehicles. I think mine has the wiring for the heaters. Did you get red or amber signals?

This seems to work for those that have tried it. The signal mirrors are cool, but this is an added bonus.

I am looking at a set of these for a future (hopefully not too far off ) purchase for my Runner.

What brought you to choose these guys over the Muths?

My mirrors are already heated, but I imagine it would not be hard to install these things anyway.

Anyone have the Muths?

These are the Muth's I'm a dealer for them, and have them in stock. You can find the install info on the link above as well.

Well that makes it easy. Guess I misunderstood. I am a bit sleep deprived.

I thought the ones you posted were from a company different than Muth.

"Light dawns on marble head" as my Grandfather used to say.

Might have to figure a way out to hide that purchase............
