Replacing 2014 Entune (non-JBL) with aftermarket

I'm sick of the Entune head unit. Had a good run after the software update, but the problems are back. I'm going to pull it and install a Kenwood DNX 6150 that I have lying around. A few questions for the installation experts:
  • Which is the FM antenna wire? The Entune does not have the standard antenna jack. I am buying the wire converter, but I don't know which wire is the Antenna wire.
  • Does the FM antenna have a power wire? If so, which one is it?
  • Will the OEM backup camera work? If so, which are the wires? Will need to convert to RCA to plug into the Kenwood
  • Suggestions for where to put the GPS antenna? In my FJ Cruiser I had it up on the dash, in the dash speaker grill there was plenty of room.
  • Suggestions for where to put the Bluetooth microphone? In the FJC I had it on the steering wheel cover, in a space between that and the speedometer.

Thanks!

I can't answer your question; but curious does the stock back up camera plug into and work with your new deck?

The new deck has RCA video input for the backup camera, while the Entune does not have any RCA. So one of the many wires going into the deck is the video one and k don't know which one it is. I've looked here and in other sites and can't find anyone who knows which one it is and wants to share the info. If I can't find out, I will reluctantly bring my car to an audio shop and let them do it.

Just curious if you successfully installed the kenwood already.

Someone in the Tundra forum pointed me to this:

Crux SWRTY-61N Wiring Interface Connect a new car stereo and retain the steering wheel audio controls and backup camera in 2012-up Toyota vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Looks like it has everything, except maybe the FM Antenna connection. I'll research this a bit. Crutchifeld says "does not fit" my 2014 T4R, but the product description would lead you to believe otherwise.

OK, turns out it does work. My mistake, in crutchfield I had mistakenly selected JBL.

It also does have the antenna connector.

Looks like it does everything I need. Just have to buy the dash kit and find the time to make this work

Not sure there is a lot of interest in this forum on replacing the Entune with an aftermarket stereo. But I will post here what I get done in case others are interested.

I ordered the following from Crutchfield. Supposed to arrive later this week, if time permits I will put it in this weekend.

USB connector - to retain OEM USB port with aftermarket head unit - Metra AX-TOYUSB-2 USB Port Cable Allows you to connect the factory USB port on select 2010-up Toyota vehicles to a new car stereo at Crutchfield.com

Wiring harness - Crux SWRTY-61N Wiring Interface Connect a new car stereo and retain the steering wheel audio controls and backup camera in 2012-up Toyota vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Dash kit - Scosche TA2106B Dash Kit Fits select 2010-up Toyota 4Runner models — single-DIN or double-DIN radios at Crutchfield.com

I will be installing my 'old' Kenwood DNX 6140 double-din head unit. It has NAV, DVD and bluetooth. Here's a link to the unit in case people want to take a look:
Kenwood - DNX6140

I have already swapped out all OEM speakers, added 2 amps (one under each seat) and put it a JBL Micro sub box in the trunk.

So I finally found time yesterday to do the install. Very happy to report that everything works. OEM Backup camera and steering wheel controls work like a charm. The only two things that I had to install new were Bluetooth microphone, which I installed in the gap between the steering wheel and the dash, and gps antenna, which I installed in the dash speaker location. Plenty of room there for the speaker and antenna.

Only thing I'm unhappy about is that the Kenwood is only allowing me to read about 1/2 of the MP3 folders in the 64gb flash drive. I see the rest but they are greyd out and i can't open them.
