Tire woes

So after all the searches, posts, research, and reviews on TireRack, I finally decided to purchase a set of Fortera TripleTreds. I was at the last page of checkout with my credit card out, and hesitated. I don't offroad for the sake of offroading (and can't since I was an idiot and got 2wd), but I do like to camp which sometimes requires mild offroading sometimes. Plus I sometimes encounter muddy dirt roads. Well, the tread of those TripleTreds just don't look suiting for any type of offroading what-so-ever. I just know there might come a time when I'll wish I had an aggressive pattern. Plus I still love the looks of the Revos over anything else hands down. Plus there is that $75 rebate...

On the other hand, I have a 22 mile one-way 65 mph commute to work every day, so I want something comfortable and quiet.

Looks like I'm back to square one with trying to decide

Sorry, I had to vent.

Why not get Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor?? Bridgestone REVOs are nice too. Both of these tires will serve you well on-road and off-road.

Try some non Revo Duelers by Bridgestone;great combo of mostly a street tire but aggressive enough pattern that looks good and can handle the little dirt/mud you may encounter.

Well, my problem with the SilentArmor is that I can only find them in 265/70-17. I'd really like to stay with the stock size so I don't take a hit in MPG, speedometer accuracy, and possibly acceleration.

I considered the normal Duelers, but they seem to get awful reviews on TireRack.

How 'bout Michelin Cross-Terrains? They come in stock size, as they are on some T4Rs from the factory. I have never seen them get bad reviews.

That's actually what I was going to get before I found the Goodyears, but my local dealer just jumped up in price. They are now a bit more than both the TripleTreds and Revos. I'm still considering them though.

Good, go for the Mich CT.

We've been very happy with Dueler H/L's on a different vehicle. Much better than the H/T's. (Don't know if the H/L's come in your size.)

Or go with the Revo's great on road tire and can handle a little off road, not aggressive and quiet, ride and handle nice too.

Whats wrong with BFG AT's? I have a set on my Tacoma (and soon on the Runner) for ~50K and frequently wheeled. They still have tons of tread and are holding up to the rigors of offroading. Plus they are great going through those extra deep water puddles that suprise you on the road.

Sounds like you want a quiet daily driver tire. I run the BFG A/T as a winter tire. I wouldn't keep them year-round because they are noisy. I don't have any experience with the Revo. I really like the Mich LTX A/T from past rides (aggresive and quiet and long life) but they don't make it in a size we can use. The Mich LTX M/S is good but more of a pickup truck tire. I would go with the Mich CT. You get what you pay for.

Yep, that's exactly what I want, but while still maintaining a sporty look. Honestly, I would have gotten the CT's by now, but every time I get ready to pull the trigger I remind myself that I'll be giving up the white letter out look that I love.

I do think I've about ruled out the TripleTreds, since the CT's to seem to have a more aggressive tread. Looks like it's now between those and the Revos. I think it boils down to me deciding what is more important, comfort or looks? Of course, I've never driven a 4Runner with either Revo's or CT's, so it really might not be that much of a difference.

Nothing's wrong with them, except that I don't offroad. If I did offroad frequently, I'd probably get them. I had a set on my old Explorer, and loved them. They were pretty noisy, but they looked great and refused to wear out.

Only the H/T's are available

For those pushing the Revo's, I'm sorry for beating a dead horse, but have any of you driven a 4Runner with the CT's? If so, how much difference was there?

I know I'm probably overthinking this, but I don't want to spend $800 for something I regret and am stuck with for the next few years.

Thanks for all the responses!
