Factory amp location?

Hi, I have a 2005 V8 limited with JBL 10 speakers system.

Where is the factory amp located? And anyone has the wiring (or plug) diagram for my factory 6-cd charger HU? I took out the HU, and it has 3 plugs.... I want to know what's the each single wires connected to?

Thank you.

Thanks~

I try to open up the cover without success. It is very tight and I don't want to break anything.

Does anyone has the diagram or illustration of how to get acess into the factory amp?

Thank you again~

You want to open the amp?? Or do you mean you want to open the rear quarter panel so you can have access to the amp? If the latter, look at this:

http://www.castulucci.com/projects/c...naviecuaccess/

I just used it to remove my amp..

Thank you for your quick response, slowginjoe.

I just want to get access to the factory amp and check out the wiring connection.

Do I need to open up the whole rear quarter panel? I thought, it's just a cover panel to cover up the factory amp and sub....

By following the instruction, looks like it will take me 2 hours by doing it....

Yes, unfortunately you have to remove the rear quarter panel. But the good news is it only took me roughly 20 min. to disassemble it. I think those directions allowed a lot of padded time. Using a rachet wrench with a #10 socket is much faster than using a plain wrench. (btw, the bolt holding the seatbelt is a #14 on mine, not #12 as specified in those directions). Anyways, t's not that bad. Nothing compared to running wires from the headunit to the back of the hatch like when I installed my backup camera. Now that was a PITA! :awais:

Look at the bright side, think of how hard it is for someone to try to steal your sub/amp.

Oh yea, do you have any info about the backup camera installation? Pictures or illustration? Or your finished product?

I am going to install the rear camera after I installed my pioneer. I still couldn't figure out how to dissemble the back door and such. Thank you for your help~

Hello Richard!

Wow, it’s been over 13 years since the last reply on this thread. I just spent a long time reminiscing about the memories of when my 4Runner was new and the backup camera, wood steering wheel swap, and the iPod adapter I installed.

Since the last time I replied to this thread I’ve gotten married, bought a new house, and had a baby and expecting a second baby anytime now, and guess what... my ‘03 4Runner is still running strong with no issues whatsoever all that time! Back up camera still works like a champ, as does the iPod adapter, with the same Gen 1 iPod attached (which still has an HDD inside spinning!), and the wood steering wheel looking as good as the day I installed it.

To answer your question on how to access the amp, there’s link a few replies above this thread that has step by step instructions, which I’ve copied here:

How to Remove the Navigation ECU from a 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Good luck!

My 04 JBL Synthesis 4ch amp went south.

Has anyone out there a spare or shelved JBL amp they would release?

Congrats on the growing family Joe and it's awesome to know the 4Runner is still providing transportation. Keep it for when your kids turn 16 and they will have the coolest ride at school. At least all the old farts like us will think so, lol!!!!
