SAS 3rd gen rear spring options and PSC options.

Hey guys. Finally able to start my own thread after digging around for specific opinions on two separate issues I got.

I own a SAS 3rd gen I actually bought off OlBlue a few weeks back. I absolutely love the rig, coming from a long toyota background in Tacomas. I just had a few small things I wanna solve, and they arent things Ive dealt with in Tacomas.

1. The rear FJ80 springs are pretty sloppy and drooping pretty bad. I have Fox 2.0 shocks back there and wanna get my runner closer to level while increasing the stiffness a bit for hauling gear. I am seriously considering the OME 861 springs, but am open to other ideas. The superflex was an option as well.

2. I have the PSC hydro assist, not full hydro up front with a modified Toyota power steering pump. I run 37's. Once my RPMs get over 1k the steering really does feel fine. I do have some loosey goosey steering at highway speeds due to the assist, I am sure. I looked into getting a PSC pump for my hydro assist because in 4wd locked its still pretty burly to turn these tires moving slow, but I know PSC doesnt make the kit anymore for my 3.4, but could someone break down if the Trail Gear pump would be a direct bolt on?

Just looking to tighten up some of the loose steering when the 37's wanna float around at highway speeds. Also, the truck tends to wanna lose its mind when I hit a large dip or bump as well. Trying to figure out a solution to this as well.

I know a lot of this is vague, but I can provide photos of everything I got on the rig now as well as specifics as you guys try and help. I am new to 4runners but am super super excited to dig into this rig and make it my own.

Thanks for the patience everyone. And all info is greatly appreciated. Cheers

The TG pump will bolt up. I have it, and run it with the PSC hydro assist. Just make sure you order the right pulley. 3rd gens use the ribbed pulley.

If I recall correctly, 851 or 861 are about the tallest coil you can get. Even with those I couldn't get level after my swap. I ultimately went all out and did 14" ORI struts on all 4 corners. Infinite adjustability with ride height and ride quality.
Otherwise, you could use trim packers or spacers on top of your coils. Just make sure to not overextend your shocks, and your brake line.

thanks bud. This was the exact answer I was looking for. Ill be ordering the trail gear soon. I went out this weekend and was up in a tight dry creek bed and turning these 37''s with very little room on this pump was beyond a workout.

The 851s are supposed to be the tallest. The 861s are about an inch shorter. I will def be doing matching ORIs in the rear this winter, just wanna get rid of some of this squishy rear sag for the time being.

Thanks again.

Urban,

Did you snag the entire kit or just the Trail Gear pump with pulley? Just curious if the kit is worth it.
