Question Lighting prob

Well, up until recently I thought I was a pretty smart person, but this one has me baffled. I have a 2003 SR5 V6, was doing a simple light mod -(I rewired the little amber corner marker lights up inside the headlights to function as turn signals like the ones one the bumber next to the fog lights) Now somehomw in doing that I have given those lower turn signals a split personality or something. They USED to come on steady when I turned the parking lights on, but now for some reason they dont, but they DO still work as blinkers. I know there is 2 filaments in the bulb, but how in the world did I manage to do this? I have checked every fuse at least a dozen times and I really didn't even do that much to the wiring....just t-tapped an extension into each of the 2 wires to the lower turn signal/parking light and ran them up and connected them to the 2 wires on the lamp socket of the marker light. I just snipped off and taped off the original 2 wires that were going to the small corner marker light next to the headlights. Are those 2 somehow run together in some magical way that I can't see or what? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

B

Do you have DRLs? Have you tried rewiring it back up to the way it was originally and see what happens?

Yes, and yes....tried that this morning and still no go...The strange part is I only even attempted the mod on the drivers side and never even got to the passenger side, so it is untouched, but yet still the problem is on both sides. I am assuming that I must have accidentally touched two wires together or somethning and burned out some relay??? I am completely stumped.....

I'm out of suggestions. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in.

Well you could always try the old pull the battery cable for 15 minutes trick and see what happens? Put it to the original configuration and then pull the battery terminal for 15 minutes. Reconnect and see how things are functioning...

I doubt this could be the issue, but did you check the bulbs? I think it is astronomically impossible for the filament to burn out in both bulbs but you never know I guess...

Another thing to check is the turn signal relay. Do a search for adding DRL and you'll find some information.

Good luck!

After doing much thread reading about DRL's and such, it seems to me that my lights are basically functioning as they would if I did not have the DRL option (flashers only) so that tells me that it SHOULD be the flasher relay behind the fuse box(the one that has been cited in multiple threads about adding the DRL's to non-DRL trucks) that is bad. SO I am hoping that if I get a new one, that will fix my problem....we shall see. Heading off to Partznet to find it now....

Is there another identical relay in the 4R that you could remove & put in that location temporarily to check them, before ordering a new part?

Possibly for the rear tails somewhere, but I would not even know where to start looking for it, plus I already ordered it...lol ...so if it doesn't work, somebody will be getting a good price on a DRL flasher relay on ebay.

Ok, so cue the Twilight Zone theme music.........apparently I have taken such good care of my 4R that she is actually able to heal herself, because now, my DRL's are working just fine....lol
I have no idea why or what the heck happened, but I am not complaining....and luckily I was able to cancel the flasher relay order before it shipped.
So now it's back to my projection/HID retro project....
