Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus vs BFG KO2
Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this has already been asked...I searched and did not see anything.
Is anyone running the new Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus? My KO2's now have nearly 60K on them and are extremely loud. I remember them being pretty quiet at first, but have gotten loud after about 30-40K miles...even with frequent rotation.
I'm trying to get a sense for the ride comfort and performance of these new Pirelli's vs a fresh set of KO2's. I'm sure the KO2's will ultimately last longer.
I haven't found any comparison reviews of this new Pirelli, except for the press launch info.
This is for a 2014 Trail w/KDSS and stock tire size: 265/70R17.
Thanks!!

I have the Pirelli Scorpions with about 500 miles on them. Had the Bfg's and I love these Pirelli's. Quiet and they ride great.

Thanks for the feedback! It was enough to get me off the fence. Scorpions All Terrain Plus' are on order and should have them on in a few days.

I am between those and the fallen at3s. I’m due now so just deciding between the two. I can run over to tire rack warehouse and pick up for $560. So pricing is the same. Reviews seem similar on selling sites. I have more trust in Pirelli as a brand but this a new tire for them too.

Pirelli
I am running the Pirellis on a fourth gen (stock).
1) These tires are smooth and quiet on road
2) These tires are FAT. They are very round in the sidewall.
3) I'm pretty sure these tires are lighter than the KO2. Maybe not lighter by much than the Falkens. (I don't know actual weights)
4) These tires are great wet road tires.
5) These tires are not in the same league as the KO2 or Falkens for off road use. If you are a serious off roader I would avoid these tires. They are good for fire roads and other light off road duty, but I would be hesitant to punish the sidewalls (see #2) in the rough stuff.
6)These tires should perform well in snow on road.
7)These tires balanced up pretty well.
Overall I judge them to be very good, to excellent for a pavement dweller.
(My previous tires were DuraTracs that I liked the performance of but were very loud on road as they aged. The DuraTracs would also smoke the Pirellis off road.)

I’m not off roading. We go camping tent and trailer... like to drive to parks to hike and might be on a fire road or light trail to get there but 97% or more is on highway commuting and transporting kids to sports.

Curious if the PIRELLI SCORPION ALL TERRAIN PLUS are any good as well. Any other people give them a try? Or have a long term review? I Want good in snow, aggressive look, and quiet ride. I Don't do any hard core offroading.

I just purchased the BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02s and am surprised at how quiet and smooth they ride. I got them at Costco and they inflated them to 50 psi and I honestly hardly notice any noise from them, even at higher speeds in the rain today testing them out in 4WD on day 2 of owning them.
I took a wet off ramp at double the recommended speed and the performance was impressive.
So far so good. Very happy with this purchase. Not cheap though.

I am also interested in the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus for my 2019 RAV4 LE Hybrid. I need a tire with great road manners (that Hybrid is QUIET) and excellent wet and snow traction.
I do some fairly decent off-roading on sharp basalt rock and in a bit of mud (no more than about 150' of ruts two or three times per trip) 2-3 times per year, so just something that can get me through the minimal (but real) off-roading and get us to and from the ski resort and through all the rain we have here in the Seattle area.
Would the Pirellis be something to consider for the much lighter Rav4? I ran KO2s on my F150 and got an honest 94K miles on them and replaced them with 5/32" left. Amazing tires, but way too heavy and too loud and too rough for a Hybrid RAV4.
I did find this video on YouTube that praises the Pirellis: The 6 best all-terrain truck tires with a Mountain/Snowflake Symbol you can buy! - YouTube
