Question Integrating ipod without a cd changer?

Has anyone integrated an ipod device in their 4Runner that doesn't have a cd changer? My HU only have a single cd player so the back of the HU only has 3 plugs instead of the 6 plugs or so that allows for an external cd changer (or ipod hook up).

The PIE unit worked on my single disk JBL and now on my 6 disk jbl. Do a search on the forums, the PIE unit has been discussed a lot.

Lightbulb Re HU that controls 6cd changer.

Check out ebay, for less that 100 bucks you can get one. I saw the 07 factory unit for 100 there.

I have an 03, Single CD plus tape, with Changer controler, and I have an IPOD attached to mine, works good! Today I dropped an AMP under the pasenger seat, and put a little bump in the trunk. I likes it better than before...

No it didn't. The PIE unit fools your head unit into thinking there is a CD changer installed.

I have the PIE unit and it works beautifully.

Like Sharp said, it fools your Head unit. I have the Scion t-1807 single disk head unit... but it works on the stock ones too.

How it works is that you remove the 12-pin connector form your HU then plug the PIE Harness in. You are then able to plug the original factory 12-pin into the Pie Harness (its a Y harness type thing... i dont know the exact terminology).

The Pie unit has two RCA jacks that you can run a wire from the unit to the mini port on top of an ipod ( the Headphone jack).

Then to activate it you just press the disk button again. once for your cd player, and again for the PIE adapter (CD Changer).

You dont get any control over the ipod through the stereo though, so if you want to chnge the song you have to do it on the iPod. i put mine in the little cubby in front of the center arm rest thing.

I'm using the DICE module www.diceelectronics.com
I'm very pleased with this module as it is fully integrated into the system (JBL single disc) although it gets buggy on occasion.

see link in my sig for more info
