The actual plies of the sidewall are 2 polyester. I've measured the sidewalls of the ATX (again in LT285/70R17) with an outside caliper and got approximately 8.5mm (previously I mentioned it was a little more than that but I've since remeasured and was consistently getting close to 8.5mm). I've got the same size and load rating in the BFG KO2's (3 ply sidewall) and consistently got 9.5mm. So the ATX is close but not quite the same thickness. The ATX is also about 2-2.5 lbs heavier than the KO2 in LT285/70R17. Hope this helps.
Does the KO2 in P rating have the same 3-ply sidewall strength as the LT rating version ? Can anybody confirm ?

Same question for the ATx, how does the sidewall strength compare between the P rating and LT rating.

I am having the issue with my 2015 4Runner, I went all the way through that process. Brand new tires and same problem. Toyota rep came out and road with me and said he didn't feel a thing. Well, he was about 250lbs (big and tall) plus the service manager about 240lbs and me 115 lbs. while they were in the car I didn't feel a lot of shaking/shimming etc.

I don't believe the KO2 in that rating has a 3-ply sidewall. Not even the C-load LT KO2 has 3-ply. I don't know much about the P-rated ATX.

The General A/TX is not offered in red lettering, only the X3 and discontinued Grabber were.

So since some of you have been running these for a while, how are they in water and rain? It rains a lot here on the gulf.

@Signal : they have excellent wet traction, I live in Seattle and am very happy with these tires. I run them at 38 psi, and still wasn't able to spin them on wet roads.

Agreed, wet traction is great. Snow and ice traction are great too. Still loving these tires!

Thanks, I miss the A/T2's but I might go to the X3's . I want a beefy tire and I am waiting for a discount tire sale.

So I'm on the wait list for a 2020 TRDORP and the first thing(okay, maybe 2nd/3rd behind lights) I'd like to get are new tires. I'm leaning towards the ATX in stock P265/70/17 and would like to hear more about others' experience(s) w/ these tires! I'll be driving ~85-90% city/highway with the occasional 1-day offroading once or twice a month.

I'd like to add that, though SoCal isn't known for much rain, wet performance is a top priority and I'll be hitting Mammoth/Big Bear during snow season.

Yes...road forced twice and still get an intermittent shimmy in the steering wheel above 60 mph.

I've had zero issue with balancing. Maybe you got a bad set, or it's something else?

I dunno but my 2019 TRD OR only has about 11K on the odometer and was like glass with the factory tires.

Now I get intermittent shimmy in the steering wheel and the only thing changed was the tires.

Those look great man!!

I'm in the market for new tires on mine and I'm stuck between these and the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's.

Can anyone persuade me in my choice please? I've never bought A/T tires before, so I'm having a hard time. Thanks in advance!

You really should read the Falken AT3W thread if you have the time or want an abundance of information. I’ll save you the hassle...The Falkens have absolutely crushes the market.

I have tried three of the most popular tires out there (Falken AT3W, BFG KO2 and Nitto Ridge Grappler) and the Falkens are the hands down winner.

There have been exceptions here with the Generals and with the Falkens for some people, but the overwhelming consensus is that the Falkens are the tires to beat.
