33x12.5-17...Why Not?

I’ve come across very few threads on this tire size. It’s not uncommon but seems uncommon amongst Runners.

Is it too wide to fit?

I’m running 285/70-17 KO2s with 17x8 wheels -10 BS, stock UCAs (in alignment spec), and no BMC. Bilstein 2.5/1.5. I’ve been offered an enticing option to even trade into General Grabber X3s in the elusive 33x12.5. I’m looking at a touch over 1” wider on specs. Am I missing something? Seems like it’ll fit with no issue...I know every Runner is different.

Itll fit you’ll just have to chop body mounts and also remove mud flaps and chop more material than you already May have cut out already, totally doable, seems like people with 4runners tend to run just slightly smaller tires than the other “big trucks” cus our little wheel wells. I got 33’s 275’s and I had to chop body mounts and some parts of fender areas but honestly after it’s said and done I wish I just went all the way and did 35’s and would just have to cut a bit more out. But either way I’m still happy with how the 33’s look and ride not super duper heavy and beating my axles up I guess is good

Thanks for your thoughts. I’m one of the lucky ones I guess. I had to chop fender liners and that’s it with my current setup. What are mud flaps??? Haha.

I really don’t want to chop the body mount. I know a ton of people do it but I don’t know. Just doesn’t seem worth it for me to run a marginally larger tire. I’m with you...if I go that far might as well go way bigger.
