Stock stereo cutting out

I’m thinking that my stock head unit might be on its way out. It starts cutting out after it has been on for a little while... hasn’t done it during the morning commute, but it’ll cut out 5-10 times during the last half of my 30-minute commute. It seems to be heat related. The first few times it’ll cut out just the “ST” in the display will go out and come back on while the audio cuts out. After cutting out like that a few times, the entire display goes out while audio cuts out. It’s always for just a second, just enough time to look at the display and see it come back on. Anyone else have this happen?

I noticed my preset radio stations were cleared, like when you disconect the battery. It did it 3 times and the last two times within a few days of each other.

Seeing that the head unit is just over 13 years old, I should probably just replace it.

could be the speakers are cooked.. coils when getting large power/volume do short out ,then the amplifier will cut out then turn back on as the speakers are working ... I expect this to gradually get worse.

front speakers should be checked because they are in the door so water damage also.

I have a feeling that this might be tied to my alternator. I’m getting some random electrical glitches... stereo cutting out, inconsistent brightness from the map lights, the rear wiper cycled once on start-up, and the beeps from unlocking it this evening sounded weak. It did similar things when the original battery started to fail several years ago and I’m thinking that my Die-Hard Platinum AGM battery is still ok. I’m also getting different voltage readings while it’s idling... 14.2 v a couple days ago vs. 13.6 v this evening. I’ll have the system tested tomorrow to see what’s going on.
