Wildpeak M/T

So I haven’t seen any user feedback on these tires. Is anyone running them? I know that the AT3Ws steal all the glory (I have them now) but I’m considering the switch.

I’m dabbling the idea of getting them as 255s rather than 285s.

Any other suggestions on tires or should I just stick with the AT3W and go with 255s or 285s?

I've put about 12k miles on m7 285/70r17 MT's and I will 100% be buying the exact same set when the time comes. Hope this helps!

How are they holding up? If you had to guess, how many miles will you get out of them?

Also did you have any fitment issues?

Can't say how many miles I think I'll get, but I drive 45min to work on the highway and they're my daily drive, still plenty of tread. I originally had 285/75-r18 AT's, and when I upgraded yes they rubbed at full turn. I kept a box cutter in my door and cut plastic whenever I felt rubbing, no more issues!

i noticed you use spacers to prevent rubbing your UCA. Considering my rims have the factory back spacing (4.75) am i going to need the spacers as well?

To me P265 70 17 AT3 provide far too much overall performance AND value to make the switch. But I am always looking for Plan B!

That is 255 75 17 Firestone Destination MT2.

The reason: it is super light for an MT (46lb), yet has a 3-ply sidewall and it is also C load. What is there not to like? Well, the price though that is secondary. The other reason is that the At3 just does so well. I would not mind a deeper starting tread than the P metric At3 but the MT tread will surely not last any longer. I project over 30,000 for my AT3 despite above average offroad use. I will be shocked if any MT can last longer in my use.

The reason I am not interested in Wildpeak MT is 1/weight 2/the Falken website clearly ranks the AT3 as much better on road.

Realistically, for those of us in AZ and SoCA I don't know why we are even looking at any MTs for anything short of a dedicated rock crawler that drives on the sidewalls when squeezed and needs a winch to get over crazy boulders. Mud is easily avoided and @Decipher has found the AT3 surprisingly capable in mud (as capable as an RT tire).

So right now i have the LT265s on. Im looking into the 285s or 255s for the AT3Ws as well. Just not sure which i should go with. Would like to avoid a BMC if at all possible.

Then why do 33" instead of 32+ like 255 75 or even just the stock 32- tire?

255 75 offers a number of LT-C MTs with a 3-ply sidewall (except Yoko MT which is 2 ply).

I understand some people really value the aesthetic match of lift and tires but there is no way that a 4R on 285 70 17 gets 1 yard further than one on 265 70, let alone 255 75.

Id be doing it for the aesthetic match. I was looking into the AT3W 255/80/17. True 33" with reasonable weight (about .5 lbs lighter than my LT265s). I assume I would have some cutting in my future if i go with this size. Any idea if a BMC would be required?

I am totally the wrong person for that question!

Maybe look into smaller 33s or a large 32s in 275 55 or 275 70.

Sometimes the differences between models in the same size can be significant enough to maybe get away. I am not sure if narrower helps in this case.

Maybe ask this question in a major tire thread like the AT3W thread to get a good response.
