Sorry if the questions are stupid, but despite subscribing to a couple different car stereo magazines back in the day, I haven't installed a system in over 20 years.
Build a carputer using an rPI and a 7" screen?

No worries! Was looking at the 4500/6500 choice myself, until I just noticed that the 6500 doesn't support Android Auto??

I had assumed the only difference was navigation or not, I don't really need the nav with Android Auto, but I figured it would be a nice to have if the situation arose for $100 extra, but I guess that's off the table entirely now...

Can anyone confirm their complaints? Are there units out there with high-res displays? If so, which brand/model?

Hi,
I have a Pumpkin head unit. It is a capacitive multi-touch screen and the screen resolution is 1024x600.
Besides, I think the price is reasonable, but it also has many functions as Pioneer,Sony or other head units. I like it very much.

Never heard of that brand until now. What made you decide on that one?

Forgot to mention, both my Pioneer H/U's do tend to glitch here and there like for example, a current song could be playing while your phone is either connected to Bluetooth or usb but the screen will still show the previous song playing. Sometimes when this happens, you won't be able to switch the songs via the H/U or the remote and will have to do it through your phone. The only way to reset it is by turning off your Bluetooth connection and turning it back on or turn the whole H/U off and turn it back on again. This is a pain especially if you're driving and you're by yourself.

Also, and this isn't really a major deal breaker, if you have sunglasses on, it's hard to see the screen w/ your sunglasses on.

I first knew this brand was introduced by my friends. He installed a Pumpkin car stereo in his car and found works good, so he introduced it to me. And I have observed the brand for a term of time and found it is really good. Therefore I choose this brand.

I just bought the AVIC-W8500NEX and the Maestro idatalink and am getting ready to install. Any advice on installing the AVIC-W8500NEX?
