Haha yeah not a major change. So far after a couple days commuting and driving around town they are great. Better handling, much quieter than the KO2s I had on my old car, and they look great! I'm still shocked that Toyota put such horrible highway tires on a vehicle marketed for off-road use.

Ya, why stop at a 285?

315 E Load is is what you want… adding as much rotational weight and reducing compliance is the name of the game.

Falken tires are heavy. Pay attention to tire weight. Heavy tires will crush your 4Runners acceleration and mpg. My next tires are going to be LT275/70R17C Firestone Destination AT as they are 47 lbs. 32.2" diameter tires will also make my speedometer more accurate. I have KDSS and I'm too afraid of messing up the way it handles on the road as it handles like a dream in corners. My fear is a lift will screw up that way it handles and rides. A soft ride is important to me and E load rated tires would kill it.

I dare anybody to find me a lighter LT tire! Tire weight matters and it seems all everyone thinks about is how tough a tire is and badass a tire looks.

E-load KO2 tires in that size weigh 55 pounds. I made up the difference switching to flow-formed Six Shooter wheels by FN. They weigh 21 pounds each, or about 9 pounds lighter than stock Trail wheels. The combo only weighs a little more than stock but much tougher.

Any regearing? Other downsides to going with 295s?

I bought mine used from a Toyota dealer with 285's on Mickey Thompson wheels. It came with a 1˝" leveling spacer.
The front tires did barely touch one spot of each inner fender. Moved the 2 lower mounts forward an inch or so and no more rubbing.
My drive home from work had a 12 mile, 6% climb. The truck does it at 65mph and the "eco" light is on the whole time.
I was averaging 17.7 mpg until I dropped the tire pressure from 45 to 30. I now average 17.1 mpg.
It doesn't handle as well as our Dodge Magnum. It rides nicer than our Ram 2500. This is normal.
I do offroad it, I have to to get to my house.
So with 285's I have a bit more ground clearance, ample power, not unusual fuel mileage, decent ride, and I like the way my truck looks.

Stock gears, it's fine. Regear would be nice but not required and not worth the $ at this point. I average 13 ish MPG if that matters to you in terms of negatives.

FX Pro wheels are $1300 with lugs? Where did you get that price from? I bought mine February 2017 and definitely didn't pay that much for them.

Nope they don’t list them on their site. Phone orders only. That’s now it’s always been with them.
