Falken Wildpeak AT3/w Road Noise

Hey all,

Anyone else had issues of their Falkens being loud?
I was under the impression that they were fairly quiet, but mine have been loud to the point of sounding like an M/T.
I noticed they were fine at first, but have been loud ever since rotating. Which shouldn't be the issue as I have more miles after rotating than I had before...it seems like as they wear in they're just getting louder.
I'm running at 36psi if that makes a difference, and have tried anywhere from 30 to 36 with little to no result in road noise. As far as I know my alignment is also still good. So I'm not really sure what is causing this excessive noise.

Mine run quiet - no complaints or comments from my wife. With my tinnitus, I wouldn't notice a minor difference, but she would.

No issues for me (SL 265 70 17).

However, I have heard people running oversized Wildpeaks complain a bit.

I was actually looking for a thread about this and looking for some help

I have a 4gen and am running 265 70 17. Im not so much having noise, but I have a lot of vibration and it feels like Im running a mud tire.

I did recently switch from an all season/ highway use tire to this all terrain and was wondering how people feel that difference is. it happens at all speeds, so isnt just a low speed or high speed issue

Over my two sets of these, both roughly 32" OD, I can feel and hear the tread difference compared to a standard passenger road tire, but in no way are they loud.

syr4r, on the road, theres always gonna be a difference with an AT tire vs a highway tire, as to the vibration you feel, did you get them roadforce balanced?

Yes - I did specifically ask for a "road force balance" for this when they were mounted and balanced and the manager told me that the use a standard computer model that he said is this process.

I didnt get any data from the balance to see how much weight or how circular the tires were, but I know that many people have difficulty with getting more aggressive treads balanced right

Mine are certainly louder than the highway tires they replaced and feel different too but that's to be expected. In no way are they overly or annoyingly noisy. I did have mine re-balanced but that wasn't the tires' fault. The installer at America's Tire screwed up the first time.

Edit: I should add mine are 265/75R16 SL.

What I'm experiencing seems to be similar to what you describe here. I can definitely feel it through the vehicle very slightly and hear it as well.
Wonder if these tires really are just loud/clunky; for me it seems to be loudest around 35mph and as I slow to a stop I can hear the lugs hitting the ground.
Looking more closely at the tread, I'm pretty sure what is causing this is the side lugs, as they have an aggressive corner that dips off into the sidewall. I think tomorrow I'll fill up with quite a bit more psi in the tires to try to get it to ride in the middle of the tread pattern and report back.

...I'm also in the Winston area (K-vegas) so maybe the roads here are just terrible

So took the psi up to 38 from where it was around 35-36 today and still didn't notice a difference. So between the 30-38psi which I have tested it seems like none of it really matters for these tires in terms of noise.
If anything, they're only (slightly) quieter above like 35 psi or so. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from an aggressive A/T tire haha.
It's just that these things are a good amount louder than the Cooper AT3's I was running before so I was kinda shocked.
