16inch rims.
5100 with eibach springs Would be a safe bet. also spc upper control arms for bigger tires.
Ome coils would work but void the bilstein warranty.

I agree with that. I was looking at a icon lift kit too so I might learn more towards that now. Few extra bucks but the damage that a failure can cause would exceed that I am sure. Thank you for your input.

I was just reading about the 5100's on the 3rd gens. Seems like a popular choice. I wonder if I can find a bilstein/elbach combo for a easy install. Not sure if I want to try to compress the spring by myself.

Edit: just found the combo for a few hundred bucks cheaper than what I was thinking of getting. here. people seem happy with it.

I'm not planning on upgrading the tires until next year so I'll probably wait on the control arms.

Ive compressed springs before, its fairly safe. But if you are not comfortable with it then dont do it .You can get them put on at any auto shop for around 60 bucks. Call a few shops and see what they would charge also there are seller's that will put them on for around a 100 bucks like toy tec or 4 wheel parts etc.

@Dom8706 , I just checked the link that you posted and they will do the spring install for $120 before shipping.

I do like the absorbers with reservoirs. But would that fit on a 02? I've heard nothing but great things about Bilstein but thought their price for coilover lift kits was surprisingly low compared to other kits.

My bad I didn't realize you had a 02.
the one that you posted would be a good value

also this one
Bilstein 0-2.3" Lift Kit for 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner
but doesn't come with rear springs
or you can get the shocks and springs separately. lots of options on that site

for some reason I was under the impression you had a 5th Gen instead of the 3rd gen.
I just bought 5100 with ome 880 up front and 906 in the back. Haven't installed them yet. I have 99 springs with 4600 right now and it drives really well on the street and does pretty darn well off road with the sway bar disconnected but I don't rock crawl.

edit one = ome
