eibach vs toytec

I have a 2019 TRD Off road and want to do a small lift either the eibach or the toytec

here is the eibach

E80-82-071-01-22-KIT - Eibach Pro Truck Lift System (Stage 1) - 10+4Runner

here is the toytec

TTHA-CK-RCC - 3" Lift W/ Bilstein 5100 Front Coilovers (FJ/4Runner/GX)

from your experience of either which do you prefer?

I throw in a 3rd option for your consideration.

Dobinsons 1" to 3.5" Lift Kit Toyota 4Runner 2010-19 (Non KDSS) – Dobinsons Direct

Keeps you in the same price range and gives you the ability to select the correct springs hieghts for what lift you want to achieve. If I was going to do a simple lift that’s what I would go with.

Robinson isn't in the same class.

Having friends with all 3 of the options, I strongly disagree. What experience do you have with Dobinsons to make that claim? Almost everyone I’ve heard say that has no real world experience with them.

I’d take Dobinsons over the Bilsteins but that’s just my opinion. Quality wise I’d rate them all on the same level.

why, would you even mention them? that is NOT what he asked, obviously the OP has done his research and narrowed it down to 2 options, and dobinson isnt even in the running, so why even mention them?
Just like when someone asked about a CB some have to throw in a HAM radio, sad.

And yet you have no response about why you made the statement. I’m guessing because you have zero experience with them and can’t actually explain why they aren’t “even in the same class.”

Let me clarify about my experience with the two original options. I’ve had the Toytec with Bilsteins. I’ve helped install and spend plenty of time with the Eibach’s. I’ve had Icon’s and Kings. I’ve spent lots of time installing and off-roading with Dobinsons and OME. I’m pretty comfortable making a recommendation based on my actual experience.

Why give another option you ask? Because many people come to forums like this to learn about new products and the experiences of others. The OP may have just searched “4Runner lift” and been directed to Toytecs site and doesn’t know about other compatible options.

If he’s not interested then so be it but at least I’m attempting to help... can’t say the same for your smart-a55 comments that provide zero help. The irony of you attempting to criticize when you haven’t even helped this thread by answering the OP’s question.

The guy literally installed the product wrong. You can't install things wrong and then blame the product.

3 years on my Toytec lift with 0 issues. But then again, I know how to install the lift correctly.

Did I miss something? I don't see it in the thread or am I blind?

If it was installed wrong good to know.

*edit
yes I'm blind disregard.

So thoughts on this one with the limited info?

Catastrophic ToyTec BOSS coilover failure

I'm just saying I haven't seen threads like these on other brands but again I didn't dig into it.

Its hard to say anything about that. Other than the situation being odd that the guy would sell his 4R and then post about his shocks afterwards from the new owner. I mean who knows if the guy is a moron and ran over a rock at 50 mph.

Metal fatigue happens and isn't just subject to Toytec, Kings, Icons or etc. Do you blame Toyota when the spindle breaks because they weren't re-enforced from Toyota?

Not saying other brands are perfect. I just see more on the Toytec pop up than other brands.

The Eibach are a newer design than the 5100 with more sophisticated valving. They are very much the "5100s of today."

Why buy a 5100-based coilover? Literally, what is the purpose? They want 1,000 which is what I paid for 6112s with Icon 2.0 rears. The Fox 2.0 is a similar price.

Assuming the vehicle will see mostly dirt roads and occasional slow forest trails, the 6112 with 600lb springs and Eibach rear or the Eibach all-around option will probably offer the best overall ride quality. The Fox or the 6112 with 650lb springs and 5160, Icon or Fox rear will offer more offroad performance: higher speeds without issues and fewer hits when crawling.

All of those are around 1,000 for front shocks and springs plus rear shocks. Rear springs add 150-220.
