Alpine ILX-W650

Is anyone using this receiver in their 5th gen T4R? Crutchfield has this unit that includes the 4x50watt power pack for a reasonable price. My primary issue is that it only has one USB port. My question is whether a splitter would work to keep the existing USB port in the dash and add another. I want to be able to keep a cord in place for CarPlay and have a spot for the USB drive I have that had 60g of music.

This unit also, I understand, is compatible with the Maestro unit.

Alpine ILX-W650 Package Includes ILX-W650 multimedia receiver, dockable KTA-450 amplifier, and amp wiring kit at Crutchfield

Hey dude,

Did you go with that head unit? I was going to go for the Halo9 but my stereo guy poo-poo’d the maestro unit. He said it was buggy.

He’s steering me toward the Alpine iLX-W650. It’s not a huge screen to block my a/c.

I’d have to ditch my cleansweep as I won’t need it.

Did you install it?

I have that unit on my 3rd Gen. You can't Y out the USB port. The radio wont read 2 signals at the same time. I know for PC they make a USB switch with individual switches to activate a certain connector. I'm just not sure if it would be 12 volt compatible. By the way it's a great unit. It may be their entry level unit but I consider it a premium entry level for what it can do.

I have that in my 5th gen. Install was super smooth, ordered from Crutchfield and I got the Crux steering wheel control adapter. Also keeps the stock USB plug and backup camera.

Entire install was maybe an hour, and that was with me messing around some (I installed my Ram mount on the dash kit when I installed it and ran cables for amps). Took longer to disassemble the roof console, which is where I put the microphone, than anything else.

I have had no issues with it so far.
