Question True Flow Cold-Air Intake for 4.7L V8

Does anyone know if True Flow makes a cold-air intake system for 4runners with the 4.7L V8? I went to their website and it just lists a replacement filter, but no intake kit. They have them for the Tundra with the 4.7L but not the 4runner.

Funny you mention that because I go back and forth with the idea of upgrading my intake with every car I own. I put a K&N in my '97 GC but keep my '00 GC stock. I know there is little performance difference unless you are really on the gas, but it would also be nice to service the filter.

I see in your avatar Jacobzky that you have some kind of aftermarket air intake. Is that the TRD intake for the V6? I wonder why they don't make one for the V8.

Just curious, but what don't you like about your intake? Did it not give you the results you were looking for or is it too loud? Or is it just that you didn't think it was worth the $$$?

My friend works for a parts distribution company and can get me a K&N CAI for about $200. I might give it a whirl at that price.

The stock intake is a true cold air intake as it draws air from the fender.

Very true. That's why I was curious to find out more about the True Flow intake system, because it uses the factory air box. You just add their filter and replace the air tube from the box to the manifold.

I'll probably just stick with stock for now until I'm convinced otherwise.

and so is the TRD, it utilizes the same fender hole to breath in.

maybe i just expect too much out of it, thats why i cant feel the gain. but yes it is far better than the stock in performance. unless i get it dyno'ed, its the only way to see the benefit.
and the best way to compliment a trd intake , is a cat-back exhaust.

True, and that's not a step I want to take right now.

One of the things I like about the 4runner over my Grand Cherokee is the smooth, quiet ride. That will be a nice change over my Jeep. Plus, I'll be gaining about 30hp and 30ft lbs of torque over my 4.7L V8 Jeep. That should be plenty to keep me happy for a while.

I did find out that True Flow does not make a CAI for V8 runners just yet, but their R&D dept. is working on one and should be released later this year.

I agree save your money i have the true flow on my '06
4.0 V-6 and although it gives a lot of boost at the high end i pay dearly with an annoying noise at the low end...maybe the trd cai has a better sound than my true flow...i am thinking about re-installing the stock system. Good luck on your decision.

it depends on the filter more then anything else. I am thinking of getting one but not to sure on what company I will go with.
overall u will not get too much out of it but again u save in the long run. saves on replacement as all u do is clean the aftermarket filter.
