Hi all,

I wanted to post my lift plans before I purchase to ensure I don’t do something stupid. Yes, I have searched the forums, but want affirmation of the plan.

I am deleting XREAS...simple unbolt.

I’m getting the following from Boss Off-road:

6112s up front set close to 2”

5160s in the rear

Icon 2” rear springs

From Coachbuilder:

1/4” shims to get an additional 1/2” lift

From somewhere:

Diff drop

I just want to ensure the lift isn’t too stiff because it’ll be my wife’s daily driver. Also, I want to try and stuff some 33s in, using powdercoated Trail wheels...and I’d like to minimize rubbing.

I wouldn't do the spacers but thats just me.

No spacers in the front, less lift, maybe 1.5, and 6112s with 600lb springs will deliver a fantastic ride (also depending on tires and pressures).

For the rear, springs with less increase in spring rate like Bilstein (they offer three sizes, including a 1.5). Actually, I am not sure a spring is needed in the rear for that use, considering the variety of spacers available for the rear that preserve the stock spring rate.

The Eibach shocks for the rear should ride better than the 5160s and last longer as well. There is no way you need reservoirs in PA so it would just be a hassle and the 5160 don't have a great rep for longevity or comfort.

You can probably get away without doing the diff drop.

I agree on the spacers, would not use, unless this is to correct the 1/4" of driver side lean. Might be more of a 4th gen thing do, not sure if the 5th does that as well.

Stick with the setup you are working with but do not run the ICON rear coils, they are progressive. Go with the Bilstein rear springs instead, they are linear. You are running a linear setup in the front and should do so in the rear for a balanced ride. If you want 2" rear lift, add a 10mm trim packer and that should get you close.

Also, Bilstein has revised the 5160 rears within the last 3 months and the new versions are much better than the past.

The Bilstein 6112/5160 combo is killer, even on the street and will soak up speed bumps and potholes with ease (which you do have in PA!) They also will be ready for you when you do go off road, even moderately!

You wont be able to run 33's with 2" front lift unless you are ready to some major trimming, you would need more like 3" lift.

Well, you’re the second person to say no spacers...so I guess there will be none of them.

600 lb springs were in the plan, so that’s good. For the rear, I will look at all the options.

I wasn’t too sure about needing the diff drop...I think I heard 2.5 and above may need them to correct CV angles a bit.

As far as the spacers, I’m ditching them unless it’s a lean issue like you mentioned.

I didn’t consider the difference in the springs.

Hopefully I get a new batch of 5160s.

As far as tires, I’ll probally wuss out and get 32s.

It's probably worth mentioning that most of my background is coming from the 4th gen (6112 one down from the highest setting). I haven't actually lifted my 5th gen yet.

Aside from cost I think someone mentioned that diff drop hurts ground clearance which was another point of contention for me.

Either way, do what you think is right for you.

2.5 you won't need diff drop. I didn't see UCA's on the list I'd do those instead.

Don't want to slap the suspension together and find out you can't get it aligned and have to take it back apart to put new UCAs on.

As far as UCAs, i’m gonna wait on them until and alignment proves I need them. This is driven solely by budget.

Hi all, just a follow up with what I ended up getting…

I still ended up buying the 6112s as well as the 5160s. The front coil overs will be set at 2 inches. I scrap the idea of getting the icon rear springs and ended up purchasing a set of Bilstein’s with inch and a half so they are more balanced. As far as spacers, I only got some in case I needed to address a lean.
