Anyone see this wheel weight placement?

Just got back from getting mounted and balanced. Never saw this diagonal style before. My previous experience has always been inside and outside lips.

I know I know. You can save the comments about it being hidden / dirty etc. Not the point. I paid a nice amount for the service.

If this is not industry standard, I might wanna know. Truck drives fine though.

I've read that the adhesive weights are better with alloy wheels because they don't break the clear coat on the wheel like bang-on weights would, and therefore preserve the protection of the coating.

I've seen those before. As long as it's balanced and smooth, drive happy.

I completely agree with the commenter above. I also had a similar problem and the answer to your question has already been written)

Modern balancers allow you to perform a "hidden weight" balance, used to do it on my own wheels. I would've cut that weight in half then lay the two shorter strips side by side behind the spoke rather than that single long one across the barrel, but as long as it doesn't contact the brake caliper you should be fine.
