New Pioneer head units...

Has anyone taken the plunge on one of the new Pioneer head units now available? Particularly the floating 8” monitor. Looks like a great option over the similar Alpine 309.

Pics if you got em’.

Yes, I just bought one with 9 inch floating display (it has European name Pioneer SPH EVO 903). It has not yet arrived, I plan to install myself, will let you know. I had a previous generation Pioneer in my (now sold) 4Runner 2009 and it was a real pleasure to use.

Just found out about these, they are awesome! I'll have to upgrade my current pioneer with this one. I've had my avh-x7800bt for a few years now and I've had 3 different ones before that. Never had an issue with them.

Pioneer

I just bought the 10.1” floating. DMH-WT8600NEX. Had to do a little custom work. Didn’t like how far it stuck out so i moved it closer to the dash. I ordered a monitor extension cable from pioneer and made a bracket and its coming out good. The main unit will still fit behind too! If yall wanna see a pic, pm me with ur number and ill be glad to send u a pic of it so far. Still working on it. Installing in 5th gen t4r

I have a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX sitting in the box ATM (waiting on backordered subwoofer and front speakers), but considered the 10.1". I decided on the 6+" display because the bigger ones look like they block the dash vents. And 6" seemed plenty big enough and is flush-mounted with the dash. I also got the dash install kit for my 5th gen, because the new HU deletes the existing dash knobs that are part of the factory HU like the volume knob. In order to preserve your existing features like steering wheel controls, backup camera, microphone (hands-free stuff), you'll likely need more hardware and harnesses. I went through Crutchfield for much of my stuff because they (mostly) give you all the stuff you didn't realize you'd need.
