Nooo say it ain't so Cooper

I sure hope this doesn't happen. Except for maybe Duratracs, Goodyear has been putting out meh tires for years. If it does, hooefully Cooper will remain Cooper.

Goodyear Agrees to Buy Cooper Tire for About $2.8 Billion

Bought my first-ever set of Coopers for my wife's Rav4 last year. Excellent tires - smooth running, no tracking or vibration weirdness, and big grooves to channel the rain out. These are great tires. Wife noticed a big difference from the Kendas that were on it. Those weren't bad, these are just a lot better.

I sell dozens of different brands of tires and every tire maker has tires in the lineup that I like and don't like. We are a "Goodyear" store and have a few customers who ask for Cooper's - which we see a lot of Cooper truck/SUV tires that cup up on the inner tread. Some of the car and UHP tires I don't mind.
As far as pricing - anything petroleum based goes up when oil goes up. Add into that the shipping costs are rising and some tire companies are expecting a 8% increase in cost.
