Bedding down operation for parking ("emergency") brake?

Looks like I'll be getting a new 2021 4Runner soon.

So I was perusing the "Breaking in your new Toyota" section of the manual. Most of it looks pretty standard, but this caught my eye:

Of particular interest: "...needs bedding-down of the brake shoes periodically."

What is the procedure, and how often should it be done?

i guess empty road, go up to a certain speed, maybe not more than 15-25 mph, instead of using regular brake, use the parking brake to slow down, just dont smash on the parking brake pedal hard, i guess just ease into it. either your suppose to ease into it, or smash on it.

I think the above is probably correct, however I fail to see why this should need to be done periodically? The only time this should be required is after new pads are installed or if the drum is turned on a brake lathe. It's no different than braking in a new set of brake pads or shoes. It's not so much needed on the good old semi metallic pads as it is on the newer, much harder pads of ceramic and other very hard pad materials.

The way this is done is to hit 10 to 15 mph and apply the brakes and bring the vehicle to almost a full stop and then increase once again to 10 to 15 mph and repeat 3 times. Next you go through the same process but with speeds of 25 to 30 mph. At these speeds you apply the brakes a little harder than you did before but not letting the vehicle come to a complete stop. once you have done this 3 times you repeat the process one more time with speeds of 55 to 60 mph and each time to apply the brakes your using slightly more pressure than you did the previous time but not letting the vehicle come to a complete stop.

After completing this procedure the idea that the pad is making full contact with the braking surface which is a rotor or drum. I'm not saying the process is exactly the same for the E Brake as the pads are smaller and an E Brake isn't used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop, it is simply to keep it from moving once it is at a full stop. But I am assuming the procedure would be similar to this with speeds and number of times repeated being less.
