Question Testing ARB air lockers and 4wheel drive functionality before a trip

If 4wheel drive has not been used for a while is there a common way to test air lockers for functionality before going off road? For 4wheel drive is there a better method to test if 4low is working than seeing if it binds up on pavement. Thank you.

What Gen 4runner. You can engage 4hi 4lo in a straight line. If all the lights on the cluster engage like normally, there is a good chance your system is working properly. when the front is locked it is hard to turn yout can feel the bind. To check the arb, raise one rear tire, engage the arb, chalk the other tires. put it neutral. If the raised tire spins then it's not locked.

5th gen. 4 lo feels like it has extra pulling power if that makes sense. I will test the locker in the way your mentioned. Thank you for your help.
