Finally a 4th Gen-Specific Cargo Barrier

Hi all, I've been a long time lurker and after like three years I thought it time to finally post something. I also posted this in another forum, but thought some of you might be interested...

I received a pre-production version of the new Speski Offroad cargo barrier last week. The barrier is designed so that you can fold the seats down and pass through under it if desired. Although these are new for 4Runners, Corbet has been making similar ones for 80 Series Land Cruisers for a while (you may have read about it in Jan/Feb 2011 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine or in some other forums).

It arrived securely packaged and came with all mounting hardware and written instructions. Just a few basic tools and about 30 minutes were needed to remove my rig's clothing hooks, test fit the mounting brackets, attach the barrier to the brackets, and tighten it all up. It would have gone even quicker if I had a second pair of hands to help, but definitely not required for the install.

It is rock solid and looks great with the powder coat. There is no comparison to those universal SUV barriers or netting. It fits like its OEM and integrates well with the stock cargo cover. I am really impressed with the fit and finish and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to increase the capacity of their cargo area or who want to haul dogs in back.

Do you know if this can be mounted in the 2nd row instead of the third row? We always keep the rear seats folded down for the dogs.

I suppose I should add that I'm in no way affiliated with Speski Offroad -- just a happy 4th gen owner who is happy to have a decent aftermarket product made by a nice guy...

This is a great find -- if i hadn't been looking for a cargo barrier for so long I wouldn't believe that no one was making them. Cornet tells me that he's going into production now that the test run was successful. $330 gets the PC'd barrier to anywhere in the lower 48...

Installation is currently behind the second row seats. I'm not sure if it would work behind the first row, though it's a cool idea. It would depend on the distance between the grab handles and the seat backs. A different bracket might need to be fabbed -- that's something you'd have to take up with Corbet himself. I don't know if he's on this forum or not, but he is on some others and I think Speski Offroad is on Facebook too.

Just installed mine today! I like it a lot. Fit was excellent and looks great! Packaging was super tough, probably could go through a small bomb blast and not be damaged. Excellent job, highly recommended. Will likely add a couple molle pouches to it for some storage. Thanks again!

Does anyone know if this will fit a 5th generation? I know they will not make them for 5th because of the airbags. I'm not so much concerned about the brackets but the barrier its self.

I would add quick connect bolts to the bottom to disconnect and hinge upwards towards the roof and latch in place so its out of the way when hauling larger items.

Apparently speski was bought by wits end, and they are no longer selling this product. Any new solutions for the 4th gen?

I have one I’m not using. Not sure what the shipping situation would be… But I am open to selling it. Black powder coated and was in my 4th Gen. PM me if interested.
