Couple of JBL Stereo Questions
It's 2am, and I have spent the last couple of hours searching though this forum trying to come up with a solution. I know that there are a couple of people on here who have the answers.
I bought a 2005 4Runner today. It has the single disc JBL stereo. Not too bad, but I want to add an ipod controller. From what I have seen the peripheral electronics unit seems to be the best, but requires a SAT button which I don't have. So, my question is, is there a single disc 06 or 07 JBL that's a quick install without having to change the bezel that has a SAT button? Will an 06 or 07 single disc fit in an 05.
Or, should I forget about all of this and just go with the USA Spec Ipod controller?
My brain is broken from too much forum searching, any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

If you don't have the rear seat audio, I think there is an aux port in the back of your unit. The Sat button would be the AM button even though it doesn't say that. If not, I think the 06-07 radios would be a clean fit into your truck.

Thanks Mark,
I'm new to this so I'm probably going to ask a couple of questions that have previously been answered.
I have an '05 V8 SR5 with the JBL single disc, with the subwoofer. I also have some remote control but don't know what it's for. I just bought the truck so I'm still learning.
After reading through many postings I was under the impression that the '05 Single Disc JBL did not have SAT. You saying that even though the AM button doesn't say it, it might be there? That would be great because I would really like to use the peripheral electronics ipod controller. How do I tell if it has SAT hidden on the AM button?

The remote control must be for the rear seat audio system. If you have it, there will be a display on the back seat dome light.
Unfortunately, I don't have that radio in my truck so I am not too familiar with it.. I have the navigation system which does not have an SAT button and I know there are ways of hooking up an ipod to the back. If you have the rear seat audio, you can just unplug it from the back of the unit and plug in whatever you want to.

Oh and if indeed you have the rear seat audio (RSA) (which the remote controls) - you need the wireless headphones for the back seat passengers to hear tunes.
Many of the add on ipod controllers have a plug that uses the 12 pin remote CD changer plug on the back of the radio. I have the Metra AXXESS Wiretunes TYIP-01 - retails about $100 (cheaper on ebay).
TYIP-01 for TOYOTA allows FULL CONTROL OF iPOD FUNCTION THOUGH THE RADIO CONTROL, INCLUDING: TRACK UP/DOWN, PLAYLIST SELECTION, SHUFFLE MODES/SCAN & REPEAT. DISPLAYS ALL TEXT INFORMATION.

Thanks for the advice wolfgang. I have looked at a couple of units that use the cd changer input. What has your experience been with the controller you have? Do you like it?
I would really like to be able to search by album and artist, but it looks like without the SAT button that feature will not be available to me.

I did come across that thread a few days ago. It sounds like the best option of the '05 JBL Single Disc is to go with the USA Spec adaptor. It seem to be the most cost effective solution.
