Question 4Runner Coil Spring Recommendation

Hi all,

I have a '01 Limited RWD 4Runner with 180k miles that I have had for about a year. I got it for a solid deal, but the suspension was more blown out than I realized when I bought it. I had a shop replace the lower ball joints, some bushings, and the front struts, and they put KYB Gas-A-Just struts on. I matched these in the rear with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. It's definitely significantly better, but the impact absorption of the car is still abysmal. I can push the rear of the car down with literally two fingers on the bumper, and I feel like I bottom out when I hit any significant bump in the road. I put some more weight in the back (~150 lbs), but that just made the back of the car bounce up and down about 4 times every time I hit a bump. With 180k miles and wanting a comfortable ride, I think new springs is a must-have. My question is what springs do you all recommend?

I have done a deep dive on a lot of the threads on here about spring recommendations, but a lot of the info doesn't apply to my build. I'm looking for a comfortable spring replacement, preferably with a slight lift if this is possible, and wanted to know what price I would be looking at. Most of the "good" springs online are around $200+ per set. I was looking at Moogs but decided against them due to reported sagging and poor fitment, and wanted other viable options that will fit with my KYB Gas-A-Just shocks and struts. The shocks/struts are OEM replacement, so I would want a spring that is stock height or a little taller and rides comfortably. Would I be able to get a spring that is ~1" taller than stock, or would that risk over-stretching the shocks and making the ride poor?

In my search for springs, I have also seen some mixed reviews on the stock Toyota springs, so was sort of unsure where to go from there. I was considering Old Man Emu springs for a while, but their sales rep told me over the phone that their springs only fit with their shock and strut assemblies. A lot of the springs for sale are geared toward off roading, which I don't really do much of. I use my 4runner for daily driving, camping in the back, and surfing. I am also looking at possibly installing some Firestone airbags in the rear coils, as they have really good reviews for improving ride quality. The ride in the front of the car isn't as much of an issue as the back, and I really want to find some good springs all around that'll get rid of the uncomfortable ride.

Let me know any suggestions for springs and improving the ride. Apologies for the long post and thanks in advance for your answers.
