5 channel amp recommendations

Hi all,

Went the taco tunes route several years back for my 2017 4Runner. 5 channel amp plus recurve.

Had immediate issues upon receiving after the install:
- buzz/static noise when turning car on (when head unit receives power)
- had feedback thru speakers (had a new shop require and this has since been corrected)

After I took it in to get rewired, I ran into a unique issue where during a long term ski trip, the head unit wouldn’t make any noise or anything for first 5min of having the car running. Almost as if it had to warm up. When I returned home to normal weather temperatures, no issues.

Today: I am wanting to get all things corrected so looking for a reliable 5 channel amp I can replace the taco tunes amp and EQ with. I don’t necessarily need an eq/dsp but open to it.

Bonus question: Any ideas on why cold weather would affect my amps?

I’ve been considering the audiocontrol lc5.1300, Rockford punch and power 5 channel, JL 5 channel.

I have a shallow 10 and component speakers so only need around 350-500rms for the sub and 60-100 for the other channels

Regarding the cold weather impact on your amps, temperature variations can indeed play a role in electronic performance. The cold might mess with the conductivity of the components or cause a bit of shrinkage, possibly leading to the behavior you described. It happens, but getting a solid amp can help tone down those problems.

As for 5-channel amp recommendations, I've had good experiences with brands like JL Audio and Audison.
