Lift Kit Installation in the OC?

Nowhere I call even knows how to install lift kits. Does anyone know where I can get a 2/1 cornfed kit installed in Orange County? Preferrably somewhere near the beach cities so I don't have to drive more than 20 minutes.

this will be the best time to learn more about your 4runner. Plus you will learn how the suspension works and how easy it is to work with it. I'd say it's far more valuable knowing and learning this more than just spending the quick buck on having a professional install the kit.

ask your fellow community for some support and I'm sure they'll give you a hand. All you need are basic hand tools and some extra set of hands and you're all set.

btw the install is not that difficult. you'd be surprise how easy it is to install it.

good luck

Good Times is right! its scary reading the instruction, but once you get started its a very easy process. no need for "Good Luck" as luck is not needed if you install it yourself. all you need is tools and a few good friends. but if you do need a pro to install then Good Luck on finding one you like.

Josh Im in your same boat

I have a cornfed lift waiting to install but looking to attempt this myself. Maybe we can get a group of guys together locally to get these installed..

Also if youre interested, couple local oc guys are going to hit some "basic" trails this weekend. Youre more than welcome to come along, PM if interested.

Pm'd you. Depending where in the OC you live, that sounds like a good idea. I haven't bought the cornfed yet, I will probably buy it from Jason B this coming monday or tuesday. I think it takes a week or 2 to be delivered.

You can go to Outlaw Offroad in Lake Forest or extreme truck toys in Garden Grove...or you can do what everyone else said, install urself. I just installed my Donahoe front and Swayaway rears by myself last week in a couple hours...most of it was spent ripping out the X-reas system. basic tools needed...

If I decided to attempt it myself, and went and bought a coil compressor, what do I need to do the the Xreas during the installation? Does anyone have a write-up and/or pictures of the install?

Or would anyone in Orange County that has done the install already be willing to help me for some $$$?? I would rather do it myself so i can learn some new things about my truck, so I would gladly pay someone for their help.

follow the same write up as a regular lift (or rather any kind of 4runner lift - 3rd gen and 4th gen are similar).

for xreas, you just need to make sure all 4 tires are off the ground so there are no pressure in the xreas system.

stuff u'll want to pick up:
tie rod puller (free rental from autozone)
copper pins (get the assorted size package $4.99 usually)
10/12/14/15/17/19/21mm box wrench / 6 or 12 pt sockets
flat head + philips screw driver
jack stands
coil compressor
floor jack(s)

I think that's about it. O yeah stock tools are always great.

food and drinks (no alcohol). cameras and lots of gloves to stay clean. an extra set of hands to document the love of learning.

good luck

The problem I am having is finding someone who will lend a hand and help me do it though. I definitely don't want to try it by myself. Unless I find someone it looks like I will be having to fork out a lot of $$$ to have a shop do it.

This place installed mine.

http://www.islandmotorsports.com/

Tell them that they installed mine (black 4runner - Tyler) at the old location. They moved to new one now. The address on the website is the new location.

I am not related or knowing them. They just happened to be close to my work. My friends and I had many, and many bad experiences at Outlaw Offroading. Outlaw will charge you an arm and 2 legs with their bad service too.

It has been a year and I have not have any issue with it (knock on wood).

I sent them an e-mail to get a price range for the install. How much did you pay for yours?

I don't remember exactly because it was more than a year ago. I have to find the receive. I think about $250 for labor.
