Aftermarket heated seats
Has anyone installed aftermarket heated seats. Do you have any advice/websites/installation info/pics/anything???? I have leather interior if that matters. Anyone w/ a limited ripped apart their seats for any reason??? Anyone want to???
I'd also like to know if anyone knows of the part number for the factory "heated seat" switches in the limited's?

Does anyone have a closeup pic of the limited's heated seat switch??? If you have the part #, that would be great too!

This seems to be a dead thread, but if anyone is still looking, I have one more questions.
ANyone have the part number to the actual heating elements? (not the switch)
There must be one out there somewhere.
Thanks

Heated seats were a standard option with the Limited. If understand the diagrams at partznet correctly, the heating element and the (leather) seat cover are sold as a single part (though physically two parts). Your looking at about $2600 to get the heaters (and factory leather covers).

You probably need to stick with the aftermarket solution. Katzkin sells seat heaters. I have no idea if you can get them without the skins.

Haven't done it yet cause the temp here in az is now exceeding 100. I probably won't do it till October some time. But, the info I have received and researched says:
You can get the heating elements on ebay for about 100/seat.
They come with switches, but they are round, push button switches, which don't mesh w/ the 4runner attitude. So unless some electronics genius tells me how to re-wire the switches, I guess I'll put them near the lumbar support switch... who knows.

alpha,
looks like the same switch that comes w/ the one's i'm looking at. Did you get the power from under the seat, or did you tap into something else???

I didn't do the install. It was a dealer option, so Custom Soft Trim did the install. I know they have inline fuses in the fuse box, so I'm not quite sure where they tapped power from. I know its wired to the ignition, so that if I forget them on and take out the key, they'll turn off. umm... I can take a quick look to see where power is coming from. Actually, I'm kindof curious myself. I'll get back to you if I can see where they are getting power from.

Okay, I took a look. They are getting power from tapping into a white wire w/ green stripe. It's a fairly larger wire, looks to be maybe 12 guage or 14 guage wire. If you look at the driver's side fuse area, you should see this wire there. the inline fuses used are 25amp fuses..
hope this helps.

Installing Heated Seats
So does anyone have expirence installing aftermarket seat heaters??
A write up would be great! Anyone?
These, http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/afcarseathea.html
look pretty straight forward. I'm not worried about the wiring, just the removal and re-installation of the seat covers...

Just an FYI to those considering this-
I used to deal with Sports Imports LTD a few years back for BMW accessories and I was really impressed with how helpful they were. Send them any questions you have.
Katzkin also sells seat heaters. I have heard good things about their products.

I am going to try and find a wrecked 4runner. There has got to be some in the Atlanta area that have been totaled.
