Possible Winch Mounts for 2003?

Hello all, I am a green member to this forum. Just bought a 2003 v8 Sport Edition, and was thinking about getting a winch installed on the front. However, i heard that the airbag sensors on the front of the vehicle can cause some installation problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hope this helps.

Are those rock slides or running boards on that?

Looks like rock sliders to me. They don't protrude far enough to be running boards.

If you need a winch then i must say you'll be doing alot of back country!

well first off, the 4runner is very capable (i've personally tested it myself and loving it!). but the height issue is a key problem.

Another note is that the winch should be able to mount in the front of the bumper but my suggestion would be wait until arb/tjm can come up w/ a steel bumper that you can mount it on. I know that ARB is working on parts specifically for our new 03 4runners so in time they'll have something.

I really don't think you'd want to mount it up to the tupperware and the front bumper as if you get into an accident (who knows), then you'd prob thrash your winch just like that .

Another issue, the winch is heavy and thus will lower the front. hence you lose alot of height in the front (already lost alot anyway). I'd say you're gonna have to lift the sucka.

Unfortunately, nobody has any lift components for sale at the moment. Daystar (spacers) has come up with some custom one's that's being tested at the moment. They should be out first with their parts soon. I am personally working with Downey and King shocks on their full suspension lift. Hopefully those will be done soon. Downey's will take approx 6 wks still Kings, well looks like 4 wks...

Either way , you'll want to lift it before adding the winch.

hope this helps..

Lance
