More kudos, Erik!

Sent $53.56 via paypal. Ship Via: Air mail. Quantity: 1 set.

If others are interested ... area code 905 is outside the City of Toronto, Ontario -- you know ... the SARS city of last year. I'm sure you're packages will be fine :)

The phone number for Aaron @ Bimmian (see below) seems to be unlisted, but it could also be a cell phone which is very common these days. Bimmian is located in Whitby which is about 25 miles NE of Toronto.

Below is the brief correspondance I had with Aaron earlier today:

Yeah we are actually a Canadian company which has expanded into the US. So your order would ship from Ontario. Shipping to the West coast only takes about 2 days via XpressPost. Erik will have specific details. The kit will include the list of bulbs that Erik had requested. If you have concerns about them then you will have to discuss it with him. We deal strictly with BMW's so I cannot answer those compatibility questions. There will be a limited warranty with the bulbs not to arrive DOA other than
that it is not feasible to offer any other protection. I hope that answers your questions. Erik will be posting more details soon.

Ladies and Gents,

Thanks so much for the compliments but the REAL hero is Aaron from Bimmian :D

I've got six orders in already and looking forward to more!! Remember that I'll be open to orders until Monday, so if you'd like a set, get on the train!!

sharp4runr 04-29-2004 07:42 PM

It looked like a lot more than 10 people were interested. If you get more than 10 replies, do those people also get in on the great deal? I wouldn't want anyone being left out ;):

Haha....I love it. Not a problem, especially since I'm gonna get $25 off (like the rest of you)...I think I can handle a little managment for that price break :D

Goose 05-01-2004 05:58 PM

All,

So far I've got 9 orders...who wants some??? I might push back the drop-dead time a little bit because I've heard more people are coming. I'd really like to give Aaron as much business as I can because he's giving us a really solid deal....so all you crazy "thrifty people"....you're on the wrong forum, so either buy or go home!!
:D:D:D:D

Just teasing of course, but hey....a little impulse is an amazing thing!!

Maybe I'm being dense, but I just re-read the thread and can't figure out exactly what's included. Can you post the list so idiots like me can make a decision?

Thanks.

DARN

DARN, looks like I missed out.
(I just came across this thread..)
Keep us advised if there will be another group buy.
Thx, Whitney

Goose 05-07-2004 08:44 PM

Hey Whitney,

Actaully have no fear...Aaron will still have these sets available, but for the full retail price. Keep your eye on the accessories forum and the special parts offer forum for more info!!

Erik

Goose 05-07-2004 09:06 PM

As promised....

BIMMIAN has saved the specs for this set and have made the custom kit available to ANY 4th Gen 4Runner owner for the price of $57.50!!

This cost is slightly higher than the price we paid for our massive order of 16 units, but still well under the $75 these bulbs cost individually!! It's a custom kit including all of the following:

4 - doors (bulb: 168/194)
2 - map lights (bulb: 168/194)
3 - dome light (bulb: DE3175)
4 - step/courtesy (bulb: DE3021 or 194)
2 - license plate (bulb: 168)

They'll ship anywhere in the US and Canada (for international shipping, contact their office directly via their website -- www.bimmian.com)

We're all currently awaiting our sets which started shipping TODAY (Friday, 07May2004) and should arrive shortly (would be shorter if the US customs office didn't hold packages for three days on that end...) so keep checking back for more reviews from other owners.

Thanks again to all who made this buy possible and I encourage any other members to take them up on this offer as well!!

Finally, the link: Bimmian Custom Xenon Interior Lights Replacment Kit ($57.50)

sharp4runr 05-07-2004 09:08 PM

A big thanks to you Erik for doing all the leg work and organizing all this. If you're ever in the Northern VA area, let me know and I'll buy you a drink.

Goose 05-07-2004 09:13 PM

:D  :D

I certainly appreciate the offer but it was nothing--you're all a great group of people to work with and I can't praise the guys at Bimmian enough for their help too. They're definitely a class act over there and very professional to boot.

Thank you all for your participation, and anyone else who may be interested in the future...check out my post just above for a link to their store where they've kept this kit ready to drop ship to any stragglers!!

Thanks to you, thanks to them, and I certainly hope you're all satisfied!!

Thanks Erik

Thanks again, Erik, I will be contacting Bimmian!
$57.50 is not bad at all.

TranceKrayz 05-10-2004 05:02 PM

hey guys i got my ligths today and guess what. the two dome lights for the passenger compartment are a little too long. i haven't checked the others yet because iw as busy. what do i do goose?

roccos_van 05-10-2004 07:00 PM

I bet the limited has a different dome light than the SR5 due the built in stereo. Hmmm, I have a limited. Probably wont fit in mine either. Well, I'm sure bimmian will let me exchange them. I'll contact them myself if there is a problem.

Marco.

sharp4runr 05-10-2004 07:04 PM

Trance, contacting Bimmian directly will probably be your best bet. Let us know how it goes and DAMN you got that junx quick!!!

Are you guys referrring to the dome light just behind the front seats? The one with the WiFi transmitter in the head liner? Then it's also in the Sport. It's part of the JBL 10 speaker system, not the limited edition alone.

Chris

roccos_van 05-10-2004 07:08 PM

Yeah, that must be the one. So, then it seems that if you have the JBL 10 Speaker system, you might have a prob with the lights.

Marco.

yabedude 05-10-2004 07:30 PM

:bonk: I think that's how this whole group buy was initiated ... to change the dome lights.

TranceKrayz 05-10-2004 07:49 PM

the light right behind the front seats are what i'm referring to. i do not have jbl ten speaker. i have standard 6 speaker with a rear seat audio system.

toybox 05-11-2004 09:37 AM

The rear audio system is what makes the dome lights in the back different.

Goose 05-11-2004 02:24 PM

Hey what's up all,

I just got my set this weekend and changed them out today, and I also noticed the problem with the overhead lights in the middle seats and the cargo area!! In the navy they call that "bad gouge" -- I'm guessing it was a mistake on our (my) side and I'm not sure how Bimmain will be able to help out because the custom kits aren't under any warrenty. However, I DID manage to fit my set of slightly oversized bulbs fit, and the first thing I did was to come down here and put a short write-up on the thread.

I removed the whole plastic case for the "dome" lights and removed the gray metal backing from behind the bulb. I then removed the old bulb and bent either side of the connections back with a pair of pliars -- it only took a little extra space before mine fit in. I then plugged the harness back in and replaced the housing in the ceiling.

The other bulbs were a cinch -- in the doors, try prying out the entire housing as opposed to only removing the lens. It should come right out and it makes it a lot easier than trying to bend over backwards!! The map light lenses come off very easily...just use a flat-head screw driver or something like one to pry off the lens from the side you push to turn on the light. The clips have an open end so the lens can snap right off. Then just pull out the bulb and replace it with your new one. As for the license plate lights, just unscrew the lens and pry out the housing (once again :D), then just pull the old bulb out and push in the new one!!

Bimmian included some extras in the kit, so be sure to keep them on hand in case one blows out sometime way in the future. I'm happy with my set short of the slight modification I had to make with my domes!! I hope you'll all be just as impressed and please be sure to post your reviews and pictures!!

roccos_van 05-11-2004 05:51 PM

My lights have yet to arrive...I sent the money for xpresspost...hmmm....anybody else still waiting?

I'm just going to mod the fitment like goose said. Sounds easy enough, then I wont need to go through any hassel of returning the bulbs.

Marco.

yabedude 05-11-2004 07:43 PM

Waiting here too ...

CopperX 05-11-2004 07:56 PM

Me too.. still waiting.

linhsy 05-11-2004 08:30 PM

I selected the Snail Mail....so go figure....:D

TranceKrayz 05-11-2004 09:30 PM

My pleasure...I'm always a bit dismayed when a mod doesn't turn out perfectly the first try, but I'm very picky and am quite satisfied with the results. There's really so little effort involved, and for the exact same result.

PS. I put my bulbs in this afternoon and couldn't wait to go driving at night :D They look GREAT -- the doors are perfect and the map lights are amazing!! They're really bright but at the same time they don't seem to put much glare on the windshield. Now that I think about it, I'm gonna go look at my license plate with the new bulbs in there!!

Please post your reviews!!! Lets make this easier for future buyers. Also, Aaron from Bimmian took a look at the sight and was really impressed with the content. He said he's going to check into some other new products that might be good for the Runners, so keep checking back on the new "Special Parts Offers" section of the main page!!
