Avic Z2 Installation frustrations

Hey guys,
Just picked up the 4runner (08 sport v8 4wd) and was all excited until this mess..

I have been lurking on these boards for a few months now collecting information. I would consider myself an experienced auto guy, and yet i still had difficulties with this.

1) The metra 8210 or whatever does NOT work with the AVIC z2. I am going to try a 8202 tomorrow. The face wouldnt open or close with the 8210. I have JBL and its so frustrating because the 8202 says it wont work for JBL but its my only other option! Other places dont mention JBL just says its for limited. Really confusing!

2) Space...there is very limited space behind the deck for ALL the accessories, such as the Metra tyto-01 AND the pac swi-ps AND all the wiring. It took me close to an hour getting it all tucked in. If you have JBL, watch out for this. In fact the tyto-01 is HUGE. i had to take it out of its case just to get the dash to come back together. i dont know why they would make the thing so gigantic. UGH

sorry just had to vent!

Been working on putting a Z1 in an 03 for the last few days, waiting on the TYTO kit to come in, have the camera wired and located a spot for the bluetooth and iPod boxes already, plus ran the antenna and mic last night, do you have the steering wheel parts working yet, that is the kit I didn't order yet.

Yeah, i used the PAC SWI-PS. I programmed the "mode" button the steering wheel for "mute" because i rarely cycle through modes, but i frequently mute!

ok turns out on a JBL car the 8202 wont work either!

I had to cut the top and bottom off the 8210 and then sand down the sides to get it to fit the avic z2.

the bottom corner looks like utter crap, so ill have to redo this at some point. for now, its all in there and working so im happy!

I ran the PAC module down to behind the center cup holders. There is plenty of wire to do this and the module just sits snugly there.

I have the resistor connected as described to the wire on its way up to the unit.
