Yeah. I meant to say that the speakers should be able to handle the amp.

Depends on the user. I dont like the Blackberry interface. It just seems so rudimentary. On my cell phone, I like all the eyecandy. However, XP Pro all the way. **** vist!

Anyway little change of plans.

Because I really want things to go bump in the trunk.

I decided on getting these!

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...x&i=500PDX1600

And 2 of these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...r&i=500SWR1242

I should be able to wire them in parallel correct?

Now am I getting to the point where I need 2 batteries. I have no interest in running dual batteries.

Thanks again clemson!

Or do you think I should run 2 12w3's in parallel off the 300W 5 channel amp?

The two w3's would be underpowered if you only ran 300 RMS to two of them.

The w3's and R's compare very favoribly to eachother. I personally own two type R's and love them. They are just right for what I want. I didn't have to upgrade the battery or change the altinator (sp?), yet people still know when I coming. Some people at school have said that they can hear me at the stop light, which is at least 100 yards away. That is with the volume half way too!

So I would say no to running two w3's off that one 5 channel amp.

I got my subs from ebay for a lot cheaper than that price.

I also got an amp to power both of them for half the cost of that one amp.

If you want the R's get a amp that puts out at least 1,000 RMS. I think the 12" R's could handle at least 600 RMS.

If you want a sealed box I'm not quite sure what size you should order. Maybe 1-1.5 cubes per woofer.

If you are going ported, which I did, I would get 2-2.5 cubes per woofer.

I'm just running one amp that is 1,100 at 2 ohms and 1600 watts at 1 ohm. I have the subs wired to 2 ohms.

I have not had to replace my battery yet, knock on wood. At night with the AC running I have no dimming.

I don't think that with running two amps and about 1,300 RMS you will have to get two batteries. You might need to upgrade that battery under the hood, but I think that would be all.

Alright. That PDX mono sub is 600RMS at 2 and 4ohms. If I wired the R's together they would each be receiving 600watts correct?

So that would be a theoretical total of 1200 watts right?

I plan on getting a set of them and the amp off ebay for half that price.

OK I understand what your saying. How bout this setup.

2 of these...

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...r&i=500SWR1222

and this amp

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TXi+1508D.html

now running the subs in parallel will create a 1ohm load correct?

meaning each sub will get 750watts of RMS power correct?

Two 4 ohm subs can be wired to 1 ohm and a 4 ohm load.

Two 2 ohm subs can be wired to a .5 ohm and 2 ohm load. You will not find very many cheap amps that will handle .5 ohms.

I would first pick out the amp and then pick out the subs that can be wired to get the most out of the amp.

Here is a link to how to wire you subs: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/wo...igurations.asp

That amp is ok. I would say that the amp would really be putting out about 1,200 to 1,300 RMS at 1 ohm. That still isn't bad.

You might also want to check out Cadence amps.

Alright I finally made my decision. Im going with

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...0&i=500PDX1600

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...+type+r&tp=111

Should I just get distro from kunkonceptz.

There are 2 fuse choices there. What amperage?

And what amperage for the one in the front by the battery?

Alright Clemson. Sorry for the run-around. Not good at making decisions that require a lot of $$. Anyway I decided on this setup. Got everything from eBay from reputable sellers w/ warranties and good history. (I'm a good ebayer LOL)

So here is everything I got!

4 Channel amp for speakers:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018

Monoblock amp for 2 Alpine Type R's

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018

Sub Box:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=009

Talked to someone who ordered from them and said it was great quality!

Front Components:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=015

Rear Coaxial:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018

Dual Alpine Type R 12" 2ohm impedance to be wired in parallel for a 2ohm load:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=023

All in all, very happy. I am sure that 800RMS @400x2 will make the Type R's thump. I am sure it will be VERY audible LOL.

This amp wiring kit w/ 250A fuse:

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=KLM-AK0

This distribution box with 2 150A fuses. (Hope this is alright)

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...?prodID=KNF-12

And 3 sets of RCA's.

Going to get this HU when my iPhone sells:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KENWOOD-DDX512-I...QQcmdZViewItem

I dont need a 7" screen just want a touch screen with ability to add nav at a later date.

Just remembered I didnt get 4gauge power wire for amps.

You think I can get that at like Lowes or something.

I also plan on picking up some speaker wire there as well.

Anyway, to all that helped me, especially Clemson, I could have not have done it without you!

In the end, I am sorry I spent some extra $ for that 5 channel amp but oh-well. It has great reviews!

I plan on doing this install myself and will take pictures to log the entire thing.

Hopefully next weekend.

Now that my wallet is empty especially since I took out a "loan" from my dad and gas at $80 a tank, im gonna have to start to put some in the piggy bank.

Furthermore, I knew my buying habits and that the more I learned about car audio the more expensive shit I was going to buy. Its a real bad habit of mine; however, I do know how to save.

Anyway Im done ranting, cant wait to get this installed.

Thanks again to all those that helped me. I honestly could not have done it without you!

Wow man! That list is impressive. This is what I want to eventually do to my car, but of course money is an issue.

Car audio gets to be VERY expensive.

I'm just going to comment on the products now:

With the wire for the amps I would go to a local car audio shop and buy it from them or try to find some welding cable. With the speaker wire make sure that is is big enough. Don't get like 18 gague.

I noticed that that distro is 1/0 in and 4 or 8 gauge out. This isn't a huge problem, but you will have to strip your wire down a little bit.

That HU looks nice. I think you will need a wiring harness.

The prefab box will work and I'm sure you will like it. It looks like it is solid quality and is at a good tuning. It is a little too small, in my opinion. You WILL be happy with it though. That's the size that I have right now. I want to upgrade, but don't want to pay for a new box. .

You are getting one amp for both the subs? I don't think that you will really notice a difference with that amp compared to a 1,000 RMS amp. 200 RMS is not a huge difference. To be honest, both the Alpine amps are underrated. They are going to put out more than what is listed.

Of course your going top of the line with the wire from kunconceptz. Nice buy there too.

Just take your time with the install and double check everything. It is going to be super hard to wait for everything to arrive, but it will be WELL worth it. I'm kind envious of you right now, spending $1,773.93. Dang!!!

I suggest that while you are waiting you read up on how to install everything. Use caraudio and other websites to their advantage.

Once again nice buys. Your 4runner is going to sound awesome. How are you going to position your box? I heard that port back and subs up is the best way, but I don't think it really matters that much and I don't think you can do that with that box.

Make sure to take pictures and videos of before, during, and after.

If you have any more questions just ask. .

this is probably a silly question but to mount the sub just drill holes deep enough for the screws provided with the subs?

do I need to seal the box with anything?
