rear quarter sub box

I was thinking of ordering the stock sub and box that comes in the jbl equipped 10 speaker 4runner from partznet.
has anyone done this?
i was trying to figure out if the sub comes with it or if its just the box.
i really just want the box so i can pick out my own sub.
the part is only 230 or 240 i believe.

Are you going to buy an amp to power it?

yeah, I have a kenwood dnx7100 and don't know much about amps and subs. I would need an 8 inch with an amp big enough to power it, any suggestions?
Just something to give it that fuller sound with a little bump

What will you use for the grille? You will have to cut some of the plastic on your stock trim piece.

Usually better to get all three pieces from a junk yard for under $100. That's what I did, actually got the rear quarter trim piece, sub, and box for $50. The trim piece came with the grille as it is secured from the side that does not show.

You won't be able to buy just the grille piece from the dealer.

Also you'll have to go with a shallow mount 8" since most are too deep. IMO, after market shallow mount subs don't sound much better that the stock jbl.

Can the stock sub handle that amp? I'm not sure what power the amp puts out.

For $240 you can get a decent box and a pretty good sub.

I'm afraid you'd be disappointed with the quality of sound from the stock box...your money would be better spent getting a stealthbox or something similar.

I don't like the amount of space a typical box and sub take. The stealth box is cool but it's super expensive.

I can understand that, but it is true that you might be disappointed with just the stock sub. I'm not sure what your looking for bass wise though.

You would need to buy the side panel with the grill in it.
