Check engine + VSC/TRAC blinking after install

hey folks, need some help.

I was having some footwell lights installed yesterday on my '08 and when I picked up the car today I noticed some problems. The check engine light was on and the VSC and traction control lights were flashing. I told the installer and he grabbed his OBD reader and reset it and it went away. A few hours later after I left it came back on.

Any ideas on what could cause this? I know he had the battery disconnected for awhile. Faulty wiring?

Also, I'm not sure if its normal or not but near my clock is a little red security light with a key image. It is solid red when the car is locked. I don't remember this being the case, but then again maybe I never noticed it before. Can anyone confirm that this light is supposed to stay solid red when the car is locked?

thx

There's probably a short some where. Try disconnecting the lights that was installed, disconnect the battery to clear the codes and see if the check engine and VSC/TRAC light comes back.

The security light on mine stays lit solid for 30 seconds after the vehilce is locked either through the key fob and/or master lock switch(es). Then the light every couple seconds.

The light always flashes every few seconds once the key is removed from the ignition.

search the forum for zero point calibration. your sensors may need to be calibrated.

Re: Re: Check engine + VSC/TRAC blinking after install

so this morning I went for a 20min drive and when I got back in the car to go home the check engine light was off and VSC was not blinking anymore. strange... possible some wire settled into place, but I hate random sh*t like that.
