For one thing you will need to run new speaker wires from behind the HU to all 4 doors.

is it because they are all fed (& wired) from the AMP? also I should mention this is for a 06 Sequoia, not a 4runner.

Yes all the speaker wires come out of the amp and go directly to the speakers. I think you will also have to change the connectors (for power, illumination, etc.) to the Scion plugs. That's not too hard providing you can find them, but the speaker thing is a big hassle.

It may have more features but I doubt it sounds "way" better than what you have now.

I just looked at the first one and it looks like your amp and speaker connections are behind the dash, so this may be easier for you than it would be in a 4runner. Anyway sound is a subjective thing and what one person likes another may not like, so do what makes you happy.

I kept this thread active in case others are looking for the same info.
its odd but it looks like, from all the reading that it can be accomplished by bypassing amp (looks like this is accomplished by disconnecting the harness at the amp and connecting/matching the speaker wires coming out from the amp) OR utilizing the amp (using aftermarket harness).
but is it safe to say, all external amped (JBL or otherwise) toyotas are wired the same? so anyone w/the AMPed setup will face the same dilemma when upgrading to a scion or any aftermarket unit.
my scion HU is not here yet. when it gets here I think I will put it into my tacoma to make sure it works before attempting the sequoia madness...

Sorry, I only know about the 4runner. My guess is that it would have to be the same, but without schematics I couldn't say for sure. Anyway here's another bump, just to keep it alive.
