id3 tags

Hi - I have the combination JBL/NAV system. When I put in a CD (store-bought), I get no information on artist/title. Is there a fix for this?

Have yet to burn any MP3 discs - will these play OK? Will the id3 information automatically show up?

As you can tell, am somewhat technology challanged, and would sure appreciate any help.

some store bought CDs still do not have that information stored on the disk. Some do, some don't. You could always rip the cd to your computer and add the information you want. Then burn a new copy of the CD.

Just so I understand - if a copy the CD to Itunes, and then make a new CD it will show the same info that you see on the Itunes playist?

Am I correct to assume that if I made an MP3 CD it would also display the info?

You'll need to rip your cd to your computer and see what information it pulls. Like for instance I ripped my Hoobastank cd and the files came up "track1.mp3" track2.mp3" etc... I went back in and Labeled them accordingly like "Hoobastank - song title.mp3" and then made the CD. I didn't use iTunes... It was Roxio but I just got a new computer and haven't even checked to see what came with it. Windows Media Player will work as well. As far as making an actual MP3 cd... I'm not sure if the factory 4th gens read MP3 cds so you may have to make the CD as a normal audio CD (songs are converted to .cda instead of going straight on the disc as .mp3)

Thanks - believe I understand now. FWIW, any CD that I copied to ITunes did show all the information.

Will also advise whether or not mp3 discs work.
